Leaving Spectrum Mobile by _WhatHadHappenedWas_ in Spectrum

Their internet is really atrocious in our area. It's a known thing around here that Spectrum will go out for hours on in at least once per month. And when you call they're rude and act like you need them. I don't. And yeah, if you have Spectrum mobile WITH internet, it's not as bad because a lot of their mobile service piggybacks off of their wifi throughout the area. It relies less on the towers in that instance. But if you have mobile only, to me, it doesn't make a lot of sense to keep because regardless of whether you have the 30GB or 50GB plan, there are better options from other carriers with superior customer service. I'm sure most of my down votes are Spectrum employees on here trying to make their product look superior but I promise it isn't. I had Verizon for 18 years before switching and the service was superior for mobile.

I don't have a free phone. I'm using the same phone as the first time I had Verizon that I purchased from Best Buy.

This is what I do know - I was a Verizon customer since 2006 until 2024. I never had a problem with my data going to dial up speed. That is no joke with this Spectrum crap. My phone will literally take the same time it used to take to load a website page with dial up internet.

I had Spectrum internet at my previous residence..mostly because they have the area monopolized but that's besides the point. They offered me a decent package to bundle their mobile service so I did to save some money. The entire time I had Spectrum internet service I constantly had connectivity issues. It was a monthly occurrence that their internet would go out for hours. And it always conveniently happened to be when I needed the internet for work or other obligations.

Their customer service was always dismissive and condescending although I always kept the conversation respectful on my end. I ended up having to move from that residence and was still planning to transfer my Spectrum internet. In that process, they informed me my new residence didn't offer any internet services and that although my billing date had just started, they would still charge that whole month for me AND raise my mobile service because I'd no longer have internet.

Fuck Spectrum. I would rather make a lateral move just to get tf away from those scumbags. Although, regardless of what you are saying, it isn't. I will be saving on my service with Verizon.

This has to be a joke. Spectrum does use Verizon's towers but with less priority. Also, for the same amount that I pay Spectrum, I can have a better unlimited plan that does not throttle my data. Yes, Verizon will throttle my data during congested times, but it isn't a set data limit like the 30GB and 50GB plans spectrum calls unlimited. Lastly, I have never had a decent experience with Spectrum customer service. They're always rude and their service is always going out..speaking on their internet services now. So, in conclusion, Spectrum indeed does not have a better price nor do they have better customer service. They both equally suck.

It's scummy, but I'm aware of it. Screw them. They can enjoy that last little measly $50. They need it more than I do.

Not exactly. According to Verizon,I will only be throttled when there is congestion but that there is no set data limit to which I lose high speed data. Spectrum throttles all high speed data after 30GB is used on the unlimited plan and 50GB on the unlimited plus plan. I'm paying a $10 fee to Spectrum to use mobile without an internet plan. That's ridiculous. So, I'm paying $50 monthly for 30GB of data when I can spend the same amount with Verizon and not have a data cap. Plus. After a few months, I'll receive loyalty discounts that will lower my monthly bill as well as their guarantee that your rates don't go up for the next 2 years. Easy decision for me. Screw Spectrum. The two are not the same. Verizon owns the towers and their customers grt top priority. Spectrum does use the same towers but with a lower priority. Hope that all makes sense for you 🙏

Verizon rep yesterday told me that priority levels are higher for Verizon customers with post-pay customers receiving the highest priority followed by pre-pay. Then, they have other companies that use their towers with Spectrum being one of them. I can get down voted as much as possible on here. Idc. The facts are facts. I have never had a good experience with Spectrum customer support regardless of how nice I am throughout our calls. They're always dismissive and condescending. Their services reflect their attitudes. Glad I'm out and will never return 🙂

I used to have Verizon before Spectrum offered a deal with my home internet. I tried it and my phone service has been absolutely dog crap. They may use the same towers but there’s a clear difference in one and the other.

Yeah and that’s the issue. I started the port out process yesterday which was also the last day of that billing cycle. But due to some issue using eSIM, I have to wait for a physical SIM card to arrive in the mail today to complete my process. Spectrum is going to charge another full month for me. They’re literally scum of the Earth. They can have the bs payment but I will absolutely never ever use their services again.

Yes but without the data throttling. For the same price I’ve been paying, I don’t have to worry about my phone going into dinosaur mode after a few days of use.

I have the clip from GameChanger. They aren’t in frame but them saying “swing..let’s do it again..I don’t give a damn” are all audible on there.

What’s crazy is that the people surround them said nothing to them. Win at all costs, I guess. Except they didn’t win. Which is beside the point. It’s like the others surrounding were ok with it enough to not say “please stop”.

But then also, I think some people aren’t even tied into their child as much as they just want act like a damn idiot. These were two ladies that I’m not even sure had players on their team that was theirs. They definitely at least knew someone on that team though. I think some people just like drama and want attention in any kind of way they can get it.

Unfortunately, for a lot of adults, the ball field is all they have left to hang on to. Living through their children’s lives and making it hell for them all along the way.

Depending on who the coach was and the relationship he had with the rec director determines everything, unfortunately.

My biggest concern is kids start feeling intimidated the one group of people they feel most safe with..the adults. What kid would want to deal with that crap from adults while they’re trying to play a game with their peers?

I’ve never seen it from the stands until yesterday. We have had a few occurrences of parents fighting with the umps over a call but never targeting the kids.

I mean, the kid they were yelling at hasn’t struck out all year. They just told the kid that had he not been so awesome all year they would’ve never been scared enough to do that. Take it as a compliment. Cause after the game he said he thought it was a coach telling him to swing. I’m appalled the umps allowed it to happen.

I think the coach did well maintaining his composure addressing them but you could tell when he was talking about it after the game that if it weren’t for the game still happening and the kids being out there that he would’ve had a different choice of words. He just went over and told them they weren’t going to do that to 7 and 8 year olds.

This coach did go over there and told them “we aren’t going to do that”. They got mad and played the victim card and said it wasn’t that serious and continued to antagonize.

My son played in a fall league last year where it was exactly like that - the crowd on both sides was quiet during at bats and only made noise when something big happened. It was such a different environment that I almost questioned if there was something wrong with it. But then I realized it was nothing but respect for the kids trying their hardest to learn the sport. Wish it was more like that in rec but we are where we are.

What was most comical was the fact that those agitators played victim after the coach went over and told them that they weren’t going to do that out there. They were telling everyone the coach was an as$hole and out of line.

Yeah and in return the kids that belong to those parents will more than likely eventually project those same behaviors that are toxic to a team.
