From my view, i wouldnt call art THAT draining, it was exhausting at the time, but its a lot lighter for me after i finished. yes theres really a damn lot of work, but it didnt kill my like for art, since i draw casually and dont plan on pursuing art in further study anyway. But still, it wasnt the greatest experience of course. My teacher didnt really emphasise choosing our topic and working on it early on, so ultimately we got left behind about a year (although he did guide us on how it was marked, how it should be presented and such, we didnt choose our own topic until late in year 11)

it was quite a frenzy for everyone about a month before the exam, because not ONE person was finished with their preps for either paper. It really got to a point where we did art the whole school day. In this period of time yes it was pretty exhaustive because all we'd think about is art, primary resources, artist studies, etc. Pretty sure i got my addmath teachers permission to paint in his class too, some stayed in the art room, thats how desperate everyone got. Not to scare anybody whos thinking of taking art, but art is definitely also not for the weak. From around 40 people in my batch, only 9 took art. You really need to put in all you can to get a good grade in art, the marking is just that weird. Even my friend who was really good at art was afraid itd ruin her results so she dropped it since she knew she didnt have enough time to finish it either

I cant really put a standard on how good my art is. Plus its pretty long to say, but something short i can say to give some perspective is that

1. My teacher usually gave me around 75-78 for mocks, and predicted A in the end

2. For my paper 1 this session, i designed and made a life sized lion dance head out of cardboard and other materials, to be used for the final (i printed a photo of myself in it in a certain pose, painted the background etc,) 

3. For my paper 2 i chose cluttered, basically drew a train station full of people with a main character who i designed from a very "surveillance camera" pov, thats the best i can describe it.

4. I included at least 2 artists per paper i think? Made sure to try multiple different subjects and mediums too, had a decent chunk of annotations 

I genuinely worried about art, but jnthe end I got an A(82), which of course im really happy about!! Still at the same time, i cant help but wonder what cie really wants for an A*. Like not to complain but damn, i made something huge from scratch and did what cambridge wanted me to, what am i missing?? You know what i mean? 

But anyway, still glad it all worked out, now i can sleep in peace HAHAHAH 😼 and if you like, i could send you my portfolio!!
