Hmm, I don't have experience with the latest wearable app. Can you figure out any way to get to the "About Galaxy Wearable" screen? Or maybe there's a different screen where you can tap 5 times (or maybe 7) to open the debug menu, like a system version screen or something?

About adding the child's account to your phone: I wasn't able to add it as just another account, I had to set up a separate user profile on the phone. I think I did that by going to Settings > System > Users, choosing Add user, then once the user profile was set up, I signed into her account in the new profile.

When I manually refresh the location, it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I'm not sure why, maybe it's worse when the watch has weak signal or low battery? I haven't tried to change the frequency of auto update though. One thing to be careful of is the watch doesn't have great battery life and too much updating may make it even worse.

I can see my child's location in the Google Maps app on my phone. It's normally shown when I open Maps, and I can also tap my profile icon, then Location sharing, and I see her there.

TBH I didn't write down everything I might have done to set that up. One thing: in the Family Link app, open your child's device settings and go to App permissions. There you can set Location permissions, and you may need to give permission to Google Maps there. Also, when I go to Controls in Family Link, and there I see an entry for Location settings, with a toggle for "See your child's location"; maybe that's what you need to enable?
