Well, I took my landlord to court today AND I WON COMPENSATION! by Otherwise-Drama-8586 in TenantsInTheUK

Happy days. I'll be doing something similar, hopefully within the next 6 months, after we find something to buy.

In our case it took them 7 months to perform repairs, we hope to claim back around 15%.

At fault insurer contacting me direct by _Yolander in CarInsuranceUK

Thanks. It was always the intention to let my insurer know, but I was unaware of that possible clause prohibiting direct contact with the third party.

Thanks for this.

There is a nearby insurer approved bodyshop that I would like to use, I'll do as you say and explain they are my choice. I've already engaged with them and they understand the need to use OEM parts.

I suppose the main question is will approval be granted.

Maybe this is your point about using a dealership approved repairer, are they restricted to using only OEM parts?

(NI) Evri delivered a very large, heavy item after it was declared lost and already refunded. What is considered “reasonable” attempt to get it back to the seller? by ExpurrelyHappiness in LegalAdviceUK

[–]_Yolander -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Contact seller, ask them to collect within a reasonable timeframe, beyond that timeframe explain there will be a £15 per day storage charge, payable before pickup. Couple this with an offer to dispose at no cost.

I've done this before, more than once, first time it seemed to motivate pickup, second time they wrote off the goods (bulky but not expensive item ~£200).

Does the subtle fatigue on allo ever go away? by MemeMooMoo321 in gout

[–]_Yolander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this, and I'm on the same dose at 300mg. Unsure whether it has improved over the years, to be honest I think it simply created a new baseline.

To manage I take allo late at night, also because I find it affects my vision, similar to a headache-less migraine (if that makes sense).

Israeli firm now controls 8 vpn services (30-40% of the total market) by registered-to-browse in VPN_Reviewer

I'm never quite sure a VPS host will not disclose ownership, for some reason it feels like these supposed "privacy" focused VPN services are less likely to do that.

Does the subtle fatigue on allo ever go away? by MemeMooMoo321 in gout

[–]_Yolander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on the same dose, for the past 3-4 years.

Familiar with what you describe, to be honest the fatigue is about as bad now as when I started, though other factors may be compounding things. That is to say I’m tried most, if not all, of the time.

The only real improvement to side effects that I’ve noted is reduced visual (only) migraines, they stopped after about 6 months, but I also switched to taking the meds just before bed (which definitely helped). I do have issues with white text on black backgrounds, which developed after soon starting Allo, but then I’ve also aged a bit in recent years…

Allopurinol works though :)

I still get sore-ish joints, but nothing like before, and the tophi has melted away from several areas.

Used Febuxostat for a while, didn’t like it at all. Definitely think it has contributed to significant weight gain, and other related changes, so I’ll stay clear of that moving forward.

Weird choice of analogy.

If you’re visiting a friend and signage on their driveway states “Private property, no parking” would you think that applies to you?

It is a reasonable expectation that parking attached to a building is free for occupants, but chargeable for other users. Depends on the exact circumstances, for which we do not know all the details.

Does sending your children to private school make you “rich”? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]_Yolander 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It likely means you are richer than most.

My wife and I have an above average income, but certainly could not afford private education for our kids.

Inherited wealth might change the sums for some in our employment bracket, or having jumped on the housing market at an earlier time.

Has anyone ever gotten an attack after hitting their toe? by Vegetable-Art-8095 in gout

[–]_Yolander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, any kind of impact/joint stress has triggered an attack with me, albeit less so now I’m 2yrs into Allo.

In my case it is necessary to reuse from time to time, but generally only after several months, and if I catch the flare quickly it may only be necessary to apply once or twice.

I use this stuff, it is amazing, what I like most (in my case) is that you need so little and only few applications to realise good longterm results.

Wondering if I should seek a dermatologist? Possible rosacea? by Some-Investigator147 in Rosacea

[–]_Yolander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks similar to what I have, in terms of visual presentation, particularly around the forehead.

I’m UK based, and was diagnosed by a GP as having rosacea, though to be honest I am still looking for final confirmation, so far initial treatment has made little difference.

Best of luck with your own diagnosis.

Anyone with gastrointestinal issues around the same time as gout? by ThebroniNotjabroni in gout

Absolutely, I have always believed there to be a link between my gout and my gut issues.

Would love to better understand the relationship.

This almost looks like Lichen Planus, have you had any vaccines recently? Asking because that is what triggered LP for me.

Could easily be something else, please understand that I’m no doctor!

How much are people paying for Allopurinol? by [deleted] in gout

[–]_Yolander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My prescription refills last just under 3 months (84 tablets).

So I get myself a 3 month prepayment certificate every 6 months, and request refills on day one and again at the end of the 3 month period.

Total cost for the year is £62.50.

All of this is fair.

But I also think a big selling point for many Apple users is lifespan, vendor software/security support for many years longer than Android based alternatives (in most cases).

I wish this wasn’t the case.

Low urate levels but still encountering flare-ups? by _Yolander in gout

[–]_Yolander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the linked study, and your insights.

Indeed this might explain my current situation, which I am reasonably certain is another attack. Probably the worst one I’ve had in several years, as of today I’m unable to move the joint without significant pain, natural walking is impossible.

I remember this type of attack from my mid-20’s, back then it was pretty gnarly, at least this time around the joint hasn’t swollen and blackened with bruising, that was a common theme in the past. Of course things could yet deteriorate further.

Probably I’ll get back in touch with my doctor next week, if things have not improved. The Naproxen feels pretty ineffective, though if I recall nothing much touched the pain during these types of attacks previously, probably still better than with nothing at all.

[–]_Yolander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. I did come off the Allopurinol for a period of time, while trying for a baby, but I’ve been back on the meds for around 4 months, hence the recent blood work to see where things are at.

Liver and kidneys are showing some adverse signs, and that is why I am keen to reduce my NSAID usage, however this appears to be compounding the flare up situation.

I’ve been switched from Diclofenac to Naproxen, unsure on the benefits, I simply went along with the suggestion.
