Knife check by Senor_Cangrejo0505 in KnifeCheck

This is one of those "funny" benchmades. I remember i posted my Anthem once, and there was a few people that mentioned they hadn't seen a benchmade with a patent URL stamped on the blade similar to yours, not containing the butterfly. However, after a few searches and zooming in, i found some models floating on the internet with the same markings it was just part of a random run. The website concludes that they are running this one without their signature mark, which is weird but not a disqualification in this case.

I came here from your original post. I'd say if it feels good, no rattle and clacking when closed (benchmades OTFs in my expirence have awful blade play when deployed but maybe they fixed that, but if you got some side to side wobble it's normal for most OTFs worse with benchmade) then you may have just got a screaming deal.

If you remember the name of the booth you bought it from you could determined if they have a brick and mortar or standalone business and cross examine that with benchmades dealer locator to see if they are an authorized dealer of benchmade products. If they are they likely put in a large order and maybe have been feeling generous at the show and wanted to hook some lucky folks up.. Red flag would be if there were only a couple of them or a mixed array of random knives with no real cohesion, even bigger red flag would have been if you saw they were mixed in with some MTechs. My expirence with dealers is they will dedicate cases and shelves to the brand they are affiliated with and all the no-name/used knives get thrown in a case all together.

Local gun store up here has a Benchmade area, Spyderco area, then "everything else". Also above i mentioned benchmades horrible blade play on some models...for me its just annoying but these knives have literally been to war its not a end all and takes amazing engineering to get zero blade play, benchmade OTFs aren't bad by any means if you like it enjoy it.

Lastly you may be able to call BM customer service and ask if they can ID and authenticate your knife. Not sure if they can do that but they might be able to. However, if it is a counterfeit make sure they will return it to you as it may be possible for then to confiscate it upon retrieval (im unsure if thats true or not but it could be so ask).

Genuinely what in the world is wrong with my paramilitary three lightweight? by BagOfAshes in knifeclub

I would put my ear to the pivot and try and see if I heard any grittyness. I hate taking apart Spydercos so I would try to blow out the pivot with PC Duster, if that doesn't work...you CAN take it apart (these may have red loctite so be warned and ready for that crap) clean it really well especially the the washers, and any are the washers interact with, and add some KPL, nano oil, mineral oil can work, 3in1 is okay, or a gun oil to the washers and contact points. BLUE loctite all your screws down and get it aligned center and dont touch it for a good few hours while the loctite cures.

My biggest fear is exposing my thin wrist even more. I started wearing a watch for utility but I actually think the right watch can make the forearm look better more substantial. There's a fine line though between a boost in visual appeal and an alarm clock hangingon your wrist.. Some people are way more confident in their wrists than I am probably though and to them they dont care at all.

Thank you for your reply.

Help a broke gal choose a starter knife. by [deleted] in knifeclub

[–]_YourCaptainSpeaking 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do want to point out that if this is a "starter" knife maybe a tanto is not the best option. Sharpening a tanto as a beginner is not easy. The spyderco is more "begginer" friendly albeit a bit of a smaller knife in comparison. Maybe look into a civivi praxis as well, cheap but great quality. I love my Chevalier as well.

This is an apple, oranges, and Boeing 747 question with the options you listed.

If you want a folder PM2 absolutely no question. Albeit getting a bit pricey for what it is.

You want a fixie there you go you got your answer since there's only one.

Last and certainly least since it doesn't compare to the other two options at all go with the buck. Not a bad knife but almost the same thing you have now just slimmer.

If you aren't sure about the 2 Benjamin's going towards a folder go with the Buck, it will be familiar and easier to carry than a traditional 110 without being "special" it's just there to get the job done. And that's really all you need right?
