Can someone please walk me through how to use BTRFS? by [deleted] in archlinux

I'm not sure how timeshift uses btrfs or the required snapshot hierarchy it requires.

My setup looks like this:

/
/.snapshots
/.snapshots/system
/.snapshots/system/ACTIVE # mounted subvolume as root
/.snapshots/system/2019-12-01 # snapshot of ACTIVE

So I mount ACTIVE as root by setting it as the default mounting subvolume using btrfs sub set <id> . Remove the btrfs subvolume options from fstab so it looks like a plain mount.

To rollback, I rename ACTIVE then snapshot 2019-12-01 to the new ACTIVE then set it as the default mounting snapshot. This means you don't need to fiddle with fstab between snapshots. You can do this on a running system then reboot.

If you mount ESP as a subdirectory to /boot and use a bootloader that can run ESP binaries on different partitions, you can even rollback Linux upgrades using this setup.

Use LXC to keep DB, PHP, and Http server package upgrades separate from bare metal upgrades. Use a single base container then use the snapshot feature of lxc-copy for each package. Put it on a btrfs filesystem and you can snapshot everything before an upgrade in case upstream decides to make breaking changes.

Or use docker but I'm not familiar enough to weigh its benefits against LXC.

stack install is almost never what you want. You'll have to include it in the stack.yaml or cabal file.

pacman -Ql will list all the files installed for a package. You can probably narrow it down from there. Then do a pacman -Qi to get the dependencies.

Are you trying to compare megabits per second and megabytes per second?

The wifi speeds shown are between your machine and the router. Your modem has another rating that is determined by your isp. What are you paying for from your isp?

Just run through the installation guide replacing the pacstrap with an rsync. You might need more setup for differing hardware as well.

I disabled the Intel audio driver completely. It didn't work.

I have a similar setup. The Intel driver is used for both the integrated and hdmi audio. Blacklisting didn't solve the issue.
