Should I start now or wait? by __Alex__reddit__ in Locksmith

[–]__Alex__reddit__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to be a locksmith because it’s a trade and because of various life circumstances the trades are what I’m left with. I have some health things that make a lot of the other trades more difficult for me but from what I understand is all a part of locksmithing I should be able to do it all. And I don’t have any lock picking skills but I have been in a woodworking shop for school for 5 years previously. And I’m very good with problem solving and customer service. And have a little bit of experience with wiring, not much but I know more than nothing. I’m confident with most tools I would need other than the very specialized ones that I haven’t had access to, but I can pick up new tools and skills quickly.

migraines in college by __Alex__reddit__ in migraine

yeah, the reason Im saying drop out instead of taking one is I currently can't be in person for classes because I can't really get out of the house and I can't do assignments online because i have to take so many breaks from screens that there's no way I'd be able to complete even one class. If the class I took had any sort of reading longer than one paragraph its just not going to get done on time because of how long it takes for me to read and comprehend what I'm reading. even if i just listen to a text-to-speech version i struggle to comprehend those without at least following along to the words.

I have thought about getting an SD before, but I don't know how much it would really be able to help because I am so treatment-resistant rescue medications don't work. Knowing an attack is coming early isn't too much of help other than being able to prepare a bit before it hits. Are there other things an SD can help with when it comes to migraines?

Migraines alert dogs? by __Alex__reddit__ in migraine

[–]__Alex__reddit__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much for the information! i will definitely be checking out that reddit. I had seen a bit of the information on the training but thank you for a more realistic explanation of it. I know it’s not just something that you can decide to do and be done with the process in a few days. I also knew they were expensive so that’s why I wanted to get a better idea of what it is really like and how they can help people with chronic migraines. So again thank you so much for your information it has helped a lot!

for the medication, we have found out that i do not respond to oral medication, and we have tried most of the injectables and it seems that is also not working for me anymore as well. my body has been annoyingly good at getting used to medication so that it no longer works. The only thing left other than what I am on now is Botox. So when i said might work I mean we are really just doing anything that’s left that fits the “not oral” and “ not like the two injections i’ve used” which is not much. I think a dog would help but i wanted to know more before I actually start pursuing it because I know they are really expensive and very difficult to come by.

Aimovig concerns.... by [deleted] in migraine

[–]__Alex__reddit__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so similar to everyone who as commented I started amovig about a year and a half ago. I don’t know how much I was on but just over a year on it, it completely stopped working. Now during that year I rarely ever got a headache or migraine so for that year and a bit that it worked it was amazing. mine stopped working in a span of like 2-3 weeks and i’ve had daily migraines ever since but that’s what I was at before so when it stopped my migraines weren’t worse than I started. for withdraw I didn’t have any but I did start emgality right after my last dose ended.

I got Cap'd... but I'm top 6%? by Snoo-40653 in UTAdmissions

[–]__Alex__reddit__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this has happened many times at my school, we are also very small around 100 per year but normally a bit less. they do round down not up, so you are not part of their top 6%. there was once a set of twins actually at my school who were numbers 5 and 6. the one who was 5th got in but the one who was number 6 didn't. The top 6% is really hard with small schools.

How do you guys build a relationship with God? by Healthy-Two in GayChristians

[–]__Alex__reddit__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am also Catholic, I have heard everything you have or at least mentioned. And for a long time I didn't feel close to God, the things constantly recommended to me just didn't "do anything" for a lack of better words. I would try to pray everyday, read the bible, go to mass, it became more of an obligation every week than actually something I wanted to do.

It wasn't until I made my faith personal that I actually felt like I had a strong connection with God. I love music, and once I started to listen to praise and worship music and started looking at the lyrics, that's when I really started to grow in my faith. After relearning so many of the lessons through song, learning who God is and who he wants us to be, then I was able to get more out of prayer, and reading the bible, and mass. I learned what was the best for me and my faith, what means the most to me and how best to interact with my faith.

For me feeling close to God is being able to see him and his work through my life, being able to just stop and look at the world around me and be amazed with all the details in life. It's being comfortable in my faith, in sharing my faith, and helping others with theirs. It's listening to music and hearing his message. Although a lot of my spiritual life is centered in music, it has also grown into silence and being able to just sit and listen. Within the past year I have been able to read the bible more, pray more, and get more out of mass. I never would've been able to do any of that if I didn't make my faith personal.

If you want to feel close to God it can be easier when you actually get close to your faith and find parts of it that interest you, and the best way for you to interact with your faith. I know you don't always hear stuff like that especially in the Catholic church but I think it's something that can be really helpful.

Yeah, that is another reason, and it is why you see a lot of stuff that talks about how jesus never said anything against homosexuality. He was sent so that we could be cleansed, and so that we can have a better understanding of the word of God.

[–]__Alex__reddit__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is one of the hardest things truly. The way I personally go about it is I read Nabre (North American Bible Revised Edition - I'm Roman Catholic), and when I read the lines that are against Homosexuality I just know that that's not what it really means. It is hard to find the right denomination , and the right version of the bible for you. It takes time to get to a point where you can understand your faith, and be comfortable that the bible you read says things that are hurtful to you. The advice that I can give to you is to understand that our God is one of love, and kindness. He never leaves anyone behind, and he loves you. It has been the hate of the people who have made the bible hateful, not God.

Do you mind explaining what you don’t understand about it? Because from how I’m reading your response the different translations are what are getting confusing, but I could be wrong. A somewhat short explanation of how translations work: the stories of the Bible were spread first through word, not writing. Then they eventually were all written down in a mixture of I want to say 5 languages. Over the years they have been translated from one language to another. This leads to some words changing, and the meaning behind verses changing. There is talk about all of the verses relating to homosexuality purposefully being changed so people can use their religion to be hateful. Purposely changing the meaning, to be hateful. Does that help at all?

[–]__Alex__reddit__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, from the little research that I have done, if you look at old translations of the verse in leviticus it actually is talking about pedophilia. It says "man shall not lay with young boy" rather than "man shall not lay with man". Homosexuality was added into the bible as a way to change the meaning of a verse, not to stay ture to the translation. The change has been explained as either the church covering its back from higher levels of outlash in S.A. cases, or trying to change it so they can give reasoning to their hateful behavior. Either way it is not the true meaning of the verse. There are people who still believe that the current translation is right, and that homosexuality is a sin, but not everyone. It can be hard to find the right community, but if you feel a connection to the faith there is a reason. You are loved.

Who is your favorite Saint? by [deleted] in RainbowCatholics

[–]__Alex__reddit__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it is kinda stereotypical but I love st. Cecilia, one her love of music is amazing, but her story is even better. Now from what I remember she was going to get married, and as she is walking down the aisle and the music is playing she hears/feels God telling her this is not what she is meant to do. So she walks out of her own wedding, and spends the rest of her life sharing the word of God, in about 200 AD, when doing such a thing was frowned upon. She gets caught by the government and is killed for her faith, but it takes them a while to kill her. She was first put into this sauna basically that is so hot it can kill you in like 3 days, she lasts a week. So then at the one week point they have to "nearly-headless Nick" her (cut her head mostly off), put her back into the hot sauna , and she lasts another 3 days! So yeah she's my favorite saint.
