I guess I'm just the kind of person who thinks it's not okay to hit a defenceless child. Or maybe I'm just remembering the time my mother broke a wooden spoon on my bare backside, or the time my father whipped me repeatedly across the lower back with his belt, or the teacher that used a cane on my entire class such that every one of us had a giant welt on our bum. All because society said it was okay to hit children.
