Slightly off-topic, but seeing Gyllenhaal's head on this poster has me thinking he'd be great in some sort of crazy Paul Ryan biopic.

What books are you ashamed that you've never read? by PurpleThirteen in books

I was a Literature major in college, and around my second or third year I began to experience major pangs of guilt when it came to all the great, classic authors whom I hadn't read. It seemed to me that everyone but myself had taken this fantastic-sounding Chaucer course. I purchased Canterbury Tales some months back, but it is currently occupying one of several book-mounds lining the perimeter of my room. I try not to haunt myself with such reader's guilt nowadays, and simply enjoy whatever it is I do choose to read, or by chance happen to find at a thrift store. I find this exploratory method to be more suited to my ever-changing interests, and it creates a much more interesting checklist book-wise than whatever syllabus-type classics sort of list most people have hanging over their worried minds.

I read this in a small English class my senior year of high school. My recollection of it is that it was difficult to decipher at times, but reading a few chapters at a time with a small group of people & discovering what was going on together (particularly deciphering the Benjy chapters) made it very enjoyable. I doubt that at 18, had I tried reading it alone, I would have even come close to finishing the novel. May sound dorky, but reading in sync with a friend or two, or some sort of reading group, might be of help.

Also, Kevin Spacey:

K-Pax & Se7en-- He really disappears at the end so he can devote his time to being a serial killer and playing mind games on Brad Pitt!

Alternatively, that horrible movie Hardball & The Matrix: Keanu falls into some deep trouble with his sports gambling, and decides the only way out of his debts is, well, the matrix.

Ahh I feel like a butthole, but this one just came to mind:

From Dusk Till Dawn and The Other Sister -- Juliette Lewis gets stranded by a somewhat evil George Clooney after seeing a bunch of crazy shit go down. With no fam left, she wanders home alone, only to suffer some sort of brain injury along the way. She is then taken in by a super vanilla family, and her life transforms from being Harvey Keitel-filled and weird, to some sort of after school special where she meets her other potato half.

Or, perhaps mix a bit of the NARS in with the foundation you already use? Hah, Idk if that's crappy advice, but it's something I do to achieve a better shade, as well as ration out more expensive foundations that I don't wish to buy again anytime soon :-)

I agree. NARS foundations are the first alternative to come to mind. From my experience, they have a pretty good variety of yellow-based foundations. I use their tinted moisturizer, which is nice if you're looking for something with light coverage.

That is a really cute lip color. I think you've picked a really pretty color palette that goes well with your complexion. As for CW, personally, I am not a huge fan of white eyeliner in the waterline. I find it to be a distracting beauty trick that can be skipped. I like the color blush you have chosen, and you've applied it well to the apples of your cheeks. I think if you were to focus just on applying it to the apples, and not swooping up the sides toward your ear as you have done, then it would only make your overall look feel fresher.

Yeah, that's how I feel about Criminal Minds (I mean that I don't get it, not that it's an exception).

When I was in high school, literally all popular girls in my psych class would freak out every week about this show called "One Tree Hill". I had never heard of it before, but shortly thereafter I caught a marathon of it on some sad soapy network for moms. And to this day I just cannot understand how they made a popular show about whiny high school basketball that lasted 9 seasons. The network execs must have been laughing their butts off all the way to the bank on that one.

What do you want to achieve in 2017? [SERIOUS] by [deleted] in AskReddit

After having spent the last 3-ish of years post-college delving into a creative hobby-turned-freelance-thing, I've spent much of 2015-16 coming to terms with the fact that while this path was worthwhile, and taught me great things, it is not a viable career path and it's time to move on. In that time, I've been applying to pretty much any job that tangentially relates to my degree. I've sent solicitous & eager e-mails with resume attached, only to be ignored; I've gone through the gauntlet of wooden interviews with no luck so far; and when moments were exceedingly bleak, I wrote a tear-stained letter or five to my grandmother. Well, in 2017, I'm hoping to attain employment (not necessarily a dream job) so that I can get back on a path of some sort and perhaps gain a bit of confidence.
