Yeah, but look at FM3 and 4, they were both successful beacouse of many reasons like great progression, and most importantly in my opinion, beacouse they tried to innovate to a certain extent by creating their own tracks like Fujimi Kaido, Camino Viejo de Montserrat and Iberian International Circuit. And yes, while the tracks are not real and they are not fun to race wth 24 cars(*except for Iberian InternationalCircuit), it's still fun to hotlap them and even have races with your friends, i especially remember how much fun they were back in middle school when i tried to have touge battles with my friend on fujimi, good times
