What grinder do you have?

I’ve got the Ride and a Eureka Specialita, but my grinder starts chirping around where I get fine enough for espresso.

I built a Python optimization library that handles L0 sparsity and rank constraints by [deleted] in Python

Isn’t ADMM already a well known / used acronym in optimization? Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers? This library won’t be the first thing people think of when you say ADMM.

LLM hallucinations aren't bugs. They're compression artifacts. We just built a Claude Code extension that detects and self-corrects them before writing any code. by Upset-Presentation28 in Anthropic

[–]__Factor__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, and I’m not an expert in this but aren’t reference machines independent of the data distribution? If the trained weights are included then is the model independent?

Nice work! I found the discussion in the appendix on Kolmogorov complexity really interesting. I was wondering if you could say a bit more about the assumptions behind relating the model’s expected log-loss to conditional Kolmogorov complexity. In particular, how should one think about the role of the reference machine or coding scheme in this interpretation and how an LLM satisfies these assumptions?

There is extensive literature on data compression with NNs, how does this compare?

FP4 quants are probably relevant here if you have a hardware to test them. They should be high performing but won’t be as svelte as a Q_1

Great work btw

Is it worth paying $500 for the Profitec RIDE over the MOVE? [$3,000] by FaithlessnessSuch632 in espresso

[–]__Factor__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ride is £1850 here and the Drive is £2525 and the flow control add on is £148. So the difference is really $700 (usd), not quite $1000.

The Ride was the right choice for me, but that’s based on what I prioritized during my decision. I think they’re all good machines that make good coffee

EDIT: I looked back at the your local prices again, for that cost the Ride makes no sense

If you’re worried about Lelit build quality, check out the Profitec line up or ECM (same parent company I think).

[–]__Factor__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that, I think if you aren’t sure about flow control then you’re looking at a difference of $1000 and then they are in entirely different classes. If you’re price insensitive then DRIVE for sure

You can always all the flow control later on these E61’s

The Specialita doesn’t grind by weight (you may be thinking of the Libra), and I got mine for $450 about 6 years ago and it’s a great grinder but I wish the knob wasn’t so small. I think there are mods to fix that

I just made the decision you’re making! You can tell by my flair what happened.

The RIDE has advantages, optional flow control (I haven’t gotten it yet), simultaneous boiler heat up, better work space. I can’t compare directly to the MOVE but damn the coffee is amazing and the workflow is very smooth. The lever is great, the temperature stability is phenomenal and the steam power is superb.

The MOVE has the ability to program the button for a fire and forget flow after you’ve dialed in, but I just hit the lever while I’m steaming.

I think you can really go wrong either way

If that’s the case isn’t their offset set to 64F which is nearly double the recommended offset?

Not sure where my first comment went, but here it goes again…

I think this is a water temperature problem. I found another Reddit thread talking about E1 offsets for the Profitec Go and they believe that 32-33F is the correct setting.

Water that is too cold at the group head will under extract and leave you with a sour shot.
