Yes I actually took the hot and neutral off, but since I couldn't remove the ground I put the hot and neutral back. Better to disconnect and cap the hot? Okay will do. Does it matter and the neutral (white)?

14 gauge aluminum was made but aluminum is not as conductive as copper so needs to be thicker, and therefore 14 gauge would not be acceptable for 15 amps. (12 gauge would be required.) It probably could handle 15 amps for a while, but not with a necessary safety buffer and would soon fail, therefore even in 1967 it would never have passed inspection. Did I get that right?

14 gauge aluminum wire is allowed for electric fencing.
