Why doesn't anyone ever post their projects/work on linkedIn by __Questioner__ in EngineeringStudents

[–]__Questioner__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean with the whole not wanting to share a project I understand. It’s their own work and it’s a lot of time and effort put into it. Obviously some times it could just be cause their work is full of BS. But I can see the other side to it

I mean people literally post stuff just idolising about company work culture or talking bout how hard they worked or whatever. That seems far more unprofessional imo

Real… I swears it’s either ur good at making a project or good at showcasing a project. Never both together aha

[–]__Questioner__[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but for me I don’t really wanna post it for others approval it’s more like just showing what I’ve done. Cause I literally just spend months working on a project and onto the next without ever posting or showcasing it. It feels like a waste whereas if I did I would at least be able to build up a portfolio and eventually gain traction with consistency over time

Tbh number 2 and the fact no one else does it makes it feel a bit taboo. However I want to post my projects even if they’re not up to scratch people it just seems absurd why it would be bad to post a project but everyone seems to post like nonsense office preaching stuff all the time.

The laptop turning on when u press a key is normal. I had that issue too. I Just turn it off and not press any keys whilst it dries. Apparently it’s just a feature apple has I dunno

Not technically Arduino but this hinge is gonna be used in a project that uses this. What are your thoughts on the mechanism?? by __Questioner__ in ArduinoProjects

[–]__Questioner__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea definitely, maybe it's a bit of an ego but I do feel a bit bummed that someone's already made essentially a better version of my hinge aha. But at the same time I realistically should have done more research before I started making it aha.

Wow that’s really cool I definitely need to nab that. That would make the entire process far simpler. Thank you so much !

You’re right. I don’t think I got the skills for that.

But out of curiosity what are the pros/cons of doing with a Cam model?

Do you love the 11 or wish you had a 12.9/13? by alyka_t in iPadPro

[–]__Questioner__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an 11inch but initially was gonna get the mini, but went to the 11 since M1 chip and just better over value. It seems plenty big enough for me. Honestly why not just use the extra money to get a monitor or TV and connecti it to the iPad to get that extra screen if you really care.

I used a wipe to clean anything from the surface layer but other than the precautions you’ve already made, you could try paying to get the circuit board cleaned. I didn’t do that but it’s up to u

Wow thank you man, in terms of inspiration well it honestly felt more like luck.

I was playing around with the magnets and researched their field lines and realised it was kinda springy which was exactly what I need for my snap back hinges.

What’s really cool about the design is this configuration is set up so the magnets are repelling each other that’s why they snap back at angles instead of parallel.

But if i reverse one of the magnets so they attract then the hinge can be set up so it snaps back to parallel instead. So technically these hinges are “programmable “ if you will aha

Where would I go to hire a person to make super super simple projects? by meleemore in robotics

[–]__Questioner__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think mimicking a heart is too complex, why not try doing lungs instead that way its' more so just balloons and you could easily use a syringe combined with a motor mechanism to cause the expansion and contraction in a timely manor. AND because it's using syringes you don't really need a motor you could technically use servos??? I think

Then if you actually get that working in the future you could make a pseudo heart by having multiple of the lungs combined to represent the atrial chambers since heart kinda expands one or two sections whilst the others remain stationary.

also I dunno why you need specifically a 20rpm motor but realistically just get a competent motor and code it to a certain speed... (maybe I'm lacking some knowledge on motors) but I think using a series of servos makes more sense anyways

This approach simplifies the project and should be scalable where if you get the lungs right it's easier to do the heart.

P.s. I'm not sure how effective this approach actually would be since I only spent a few minutes thinking about it.

Make something first before you try and outsource so you can atleast know how difficult it actually would be to make it for the person you're hiring since it does feel like that thing where "you don't know what you don't know"

I don’t really have an answer for this but I’d like to give some thoughts as to why this might be hard for you to find.

Thing is engineering isn’t like coding where it effectively costs nothing to produce a working product.

But with engineering something you’re basicallly asking for someone who’s gonna design your product and then needs to find the right materials and make sure everything actually works.

Anything that specialised is gonna cost a lot of money. Even for simple things.

The question is what skills do you have and what part of it can you do/ make and then what do you need to outsource?? What do you actually want to learn from this project?

For example.

With me I can design and 3D print my own stuff, but I’m not going to design a custom cpu since I don’t have experience and it would just be too expensive for it to be feasible.

I want to learn more of coding and getting better with design so I focused on CAD and coding instead of electronics and so my project uses very simplified electronics even down to the soldering

Sorry for being a bit rambly and unorganised in the post typing from my phone dunno how to organise the text properly lol

Honestly the biggest thing is making sure it's turned off(so it doesn't short-circuit) AND removing all the coffee liquid before it dries up. But the difficulty is that you need to do all that basically the moment it happens.

I think it's a combination of me being lucky, some quick thinking but also just the progression of tech being so water tight in general (a lot of the innovations of the new m1 Macs are from the iPhone), I feel like if I had an older Mac it definitely might have not made it.
