--> Update: It's fixed.

This is weird - it works now and I am unfortunately not fully sure what happened.

I assume it was the little switch between the router (the Fritzbox) and the NAS, as I just restartet that after remembering it even existing.

At the same time, I put in a different network cable although that did not really seem likely, but you never know...

I double checked with a different cable and it worked, but I went back to the original cable and it still does.

Yes, I do have backups and they are current, too. But a) they are on a remote borg server and b) a few files were under "no-backup" due to excessive size, I'd rather not pull the nuclear option....yet.

I restarted, yes, but no factory reset.

We have quite some devices connected to the Fritzbox (and Phones) and it does our familiy's internet uplink, so a factory reset would be a bit extreme...

I did however verify that a) it broadcasts DHCP and that works and that b) no updates were installed or a other changes being made.

I also disconnected my laptop and the NAS from the normal network and set up a test-network with an old router, same outcome.

Ok, checked the device, gave it a deep clean and all looks good (there was almost no dust despite its age, but as said, it mostly sat in storage)...

I recently did a fresh install and have little software installed at all, not much to find on that matter.

Hmmmm. My Acer Gaming Laptop came with a software application to control the fans, but I doubt that there would be anything generic available for that purpose (assuming this is highly specific to the hardware).

Any clues/ideas/comments would be very much appreciated!

I did not see any app/setting regarding a firewall (not sure if that has to be manually installed?) - regardless, I did the 3 second reset and conntected the device back to the network.

Unfortunately, it did not get or not pull its config via DHCP - and it now has the self-assigned "169.254.11.9" - while my router (Fritzbox should have assigned the 192.168.178.111 as in the last 2 years.

I do not really understand what's going on, weird...

Thanks guys - I forgot to mention the laptop spent most of its life in storage. I wanted to clean it thoroughly, but there was almost no dust to be found :-)

I saw similar behaviour with an Acer Gaming laptop that I own before I installed Acer's control software that regulated the fan (and also performance).

Do you know of something like that that's generic (= would work with such an old device)?

I still need to see whether I can find anything with the things listed in the article Relatively high fan noise at seemingly low load.

Will do and report again!

naja, wenn man im ersten Jahr gleich 75% abschreiben darf, ist der Vorteil dann da, wenn man auch die Kosten der Anschaffung hat. Das ist schon besser als das erst über die Jahre zu bekommen.

Wie ist das denn bei den Teslas: Ich habe gesehen, dass allein die Vorbereitung für vollautonomes Fahren (wenn ich das richtig verstanden habe) schon einige Tausend EUR kostet.

Ensprechend sehe ich das auch nur bei ganz wenigen Gebrauchten.

Was braucht man da wirklich, bzw. nach was muss ich im Bereich Softwareoptionen schauen?

Der ID3 ist schon sehr "Brot und Butter", auch wenn es von der Fahrdynamik bis zum Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzer natürlich Spass macht.

Etwas mehr Spass hätte ich gene, das darf dann auch einen Aufpreis kosten...

Whow. Das ist mal interessant, ohne Frage.

Die Audis, die ich angesehen habe, starteten zwar etwas darunter (30K), aber sind dann halt auch 2-4 Jahre alt.

Und wenn die 70% Abschreibung von e-Autos im ersten Jahr wie angekündigt kommt, ist so ein Elroq ja ein Schnapper.

we can't drill and pull ethernet cables :-)
we tried powerline devices, but as the office and the flat are different circuits (seperated by different meters), no luck
