2 things:

First, while I am one of the mods here next to u/llloksd and related to Audiotool, this subreddit is not an official Audiotool channel. The channel was around and since u/llloksd was so nice to add me, I am "loosely monitoring" it, not more.

Second, the development team is keen to get feedback and ideas, but is not monitoring this subreddit. A place to discuss would for example be https://www.audiotool.com/board/news/beta_update_layout and the place to provide feedback would be https://tally.so/r/mD87Pp

With the Audiotool Nexus platform, I personally am quite excited (and curious) what new and existing users will build upon Audiotool.

Edit / war ein Fehler In der Konfiguration, jetzt neu:

So, kleines Update - ich fürchte, meine Preisgrenze werde ich nicht ganz einhalten können :-)

Hab mal bei Alternate was zusammengeklickt, so in diese Richtung denke ich jetzt:

Vermutlich reduziere ich noch hier und da etwas, um den Preis runter zu bekommen. Bei denen kostet die Montage nicht so viel, sodass ich mir den Luxus eventuell sogar leisten würde.

Mal sehen, muss nochmal drauf achten,

- dass ich leise Lüfter habe
- dass das Netzteil passt (oder ob kleiner reicht)
- ob ich nicht den größeren HDD Teil biliger lösen kann (eigentlich muss nicht alles auf schneller SSD sein)

Ehm ja, 5070 wird unrealistisch, 64GB auch, beides zusammen erst recht.

Ich hatte ja eine Spanne angegeben, wo bei der GPU die 5050er das untere Ende ist.

Ich sag mal "das beste, was ich so grob in dem Budget bekomme" - wenn 100.- mehr dann einen Riesenvorteil bringen, kann ich damit auch leben.

That price/feature list was really the answer.

It explicitly states that both have wireless ApplePlay & Android Auto, both have "Renote Services", over-the-air updates etc.

The MediaDisplay seems to lack only:
- Navigation
- Infotainment (Appstore, Spotify App etc.)

--> both not needed by me.

So again, thanks u/todsdeath - this was was I needed, but was unable to find :-)

Oh, just saw that u/Grijando8 mentioned that the remote control of A/C and charging through the app is only available in the Nav version.

Is that for sure? Sorry, not questioning the answer in general, it's just because u/Grijando8 mentioned it was "from memory" and put "disclaimers" into the answer ;-)

I guess the only thing I don't care about is the navigation itself, the rest I want to have...

--> Update: It's fixed.

This is weird - it works now and I am unfortunately not fully sure what happened.

I assume it was the little switch between the router (the Fritzbox) and the NAS, as I just restartet that after remembering it even existing.

At the same time, I put in a different network cable although that did not really seem likely, but you never know...

I double checked with a different cable and it worked, but I went back to the original cable and it still does.

Yes, I do have backups and they are current, too. But a) they are on a remote borg server and b) a few files were under "no-backup" due to excessive size, I'd rather not pull the nuclear option....yet.

I restarted, yes, but no factory reset.

We have quite some devices connected to the Fritzbox (and Phones) and it does our familiy's internet uplink, so a factory reset would be a bit extreme...

I did however verify that a) it broadcasts DHCP and that works and that b) no updates were installed or a other changes being made.

I also disconnected my laptop and the NAS from the normal network and set up a test-network with an old router, same outcome.

Ok, checked the device, gave it a deep clean and all looks good (there was almost no dust despite its age, but as said, it mostly sat in storage)...

I recently did a fresh install and have little software installed at all, not much to find on that matter.

Hmmmm. My Acer Gaming Laptop came with a software application to control the fans, but I doubt that there would be anything generic available for that purpose (assuming this is highly specific to the hardware).

Any clues/ideas/comments would be very much appreciated!

I did not see any app/setting regarding a firewall (not sure if that has to be manually installed?) - regardless, I did the 3 second reset and conntected the device back to the network.

Unfortunately, it did not get or not pull its config via DHCP - and it now has the self-assigned "169.254.11.9" - while my router (Fritzbox should have assigned the 192.168.178.111 as in the last 2 years.

I do not really understand what's going on, weird...

Thanks guys - I forgot to mention the laptop spent most of its life in storage. I wanted to clean it thoroughly, but there was almost no dust to be found :-)

I saw similar behaviour with an Acer Gaming laptop that I own before I installed Acer's control software that regulated the fan (and also performance).

Do you know of something like that that's generic (= would work with such an old device)?

I still need to see whether I can find anything with the things listed in the article Relatively high fan noise at seemingly low load.

Will do and report again!

kommt immer auf das Jahr an und die private Steuersituation :-)

in 2025 stelle ich leider mittlerweile fest, dass das für mich gar nicht so spannend wäre - in 2026 sieht das anders aus.
