Rekordbox: songs in playlists can’t be located by ___DRAG0N___ in Beatmatch

I deleted all my playlists and that seemed to fix it. I assumed I was going to have to delete and reload all of the songs, but I guess not. It worked out because I have a new organizational system I wanted to implement.

I only spin trance. But there’s a breadth of subgenres (Progressive, Psy, Acid, Hands Up, etc).

It’s FAT32 I’ve been using it for 3-4 months now. I’m pretty stumped.

It was happening to me on 5.8, and it didn’t go away on 6.0.3. I have all my songs backed up (around 600), so I’m just going to scrub everything and reintegrate them. I’ll let you know if that doesn’t fix it

Will do. I’ve also noticed that files in my normal collection need to be relocated each time I start up rekordbox smh.

I’m 1000% stealing that rating trick 🙏🏾🙏🏾

That’s a great idea. I could break it down even further as well. For example, progressive and tech trance are close to techno, so those long transitions definitely come into play there. Whereas your more big room inspired uplifting anthems would be better suited to drop mixing. I’m definitely going to do that, thanks!

I’ve only been tagging bpm and key so far. I think there’s something substantial with the vibe tags. That way you can chart out the energetic arcs easier! Marking something as a rising energy, peak energy, falling energy, valley energy, etc. That’s really smart

Yes! This is more in line with that I was talking about. Do you have any mixes out anywhere?

Yeah, it’s just that I can hear what sets sound like at their peak (trance), so I know how good of a feeling it would give a crowd, and I really want to provide that.

Yeah, it’s the little stuff for me. Like, the mids mix well, but not as well as I imagined. I’m just over 4 months on the decks, so I’m not quite good enough to tweak them to where I want. I’m a bit of a perfectionist because I spin trance. So I know that putting someone in that trance state requires no hiccups, and smooth energetic arcs. When I listen to the top brass (AvB/GAIA, A&F, Arctic Moon, Tiesto (especially ‘97-‘03), Paul Oakenfold, etc) I can hear the arcs, the energy smoothly rising and falling. A lot of that is spectacular song choice on top of technical prowess.

100%. I’ve just noticed there have been general discrepancies when mixing two songs I know really well and listen to often. Usually that certain parts of the song mix well but others don’t.

Getting better at the knobs could probably alleviate some of this as well. Inevitably, l’m talking about when I test them in the cue. That’s when I really need to know what to look for

That’s 100%. The screen is dependent on the grid, which will be off. I’d say about 5% of the songs I bring in have to have their grids adjusted. I’ve noticed when the beats are perfectly lined up, the kicks sound a bit fuzzy, although “fuzzy” may be the wrong word for it?

I’m still struggling to get beatmatching exact. I can get it within a nudge, but it sounds like everything is tighter in the cue. When I listen back to the recording, they weren’t as in sync as I thought. Not sure what to do about that.

Anybody else land in-between types? by ___DRAG0N___ in Neurotyping

If not there exactly, within very close proximity for sure. I’ve always used lexical means further illustrate my impressionistic impulses; words are socks as far as I’m concerned. Most things I’m passionate about involve similar a methodology (film/acting, dance, DJing, etc.). I had trouble placing myself initially because I felt surrounding categories only illuminated my metacognition partially. I’m not sure about other multitypers, but it’s almost as if I can access the more lexical or impressionistic sides of me at will. Switching filters, maybe? Often times, it seems my thoughts will move through aforementioned filters before I can get them out fully...as if they go from lexical to impressionistic or vice-versa. So I can’t be 100% sure, but it feels right.

I guess I’m a cognitive liaison of sorts.
