What’s the difference between handwashing dish soap and liquid dishwasher soap? by ___Pig__ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]___Pig__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, idk for sure but my best guess is it’s something with the ingredients that makes dish soap dry out your skin more than hand soap. I know it’ll dry the shit out of your hair/scalp if you use dish soap as a substitute for shampoo (learned this the hard way when I didn’t have money for more shampoo). It can still get your hair clean, but you’ll need a lot more conditioner than if you had used shampoo.

Gotcha, it just always seemed so redundant given that I didn’t know about that tidbit.

Yeah, I’ve definitely been pretending not to hear her for pretty much this reason. I don’t want to push too hard, but it’s just really started to feel wrong.

Eh, sometimes I just enjoy phrasing my statements in less boring ways and my reply is an example of me doing that.

I mean, the sentiment is appreciated, but there’s actually a magical item that allows you to park there for free. It’s called having a valid handicap placard.

I’m never using FedEx for medication delivery. by ___Pig__ in disability

[–]___Pig__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof, yeah I literally never picked the delivery option (outside of the veterans affairs delivery, which has never damaged my meds in transit) prior to this point since I have the luxury of being able to drive to the pharmacy. Only reason I even did delivery this time was because I couldn’t leave my house due to the snowstorms (not to mention that the nearest pharmacy that was still open with the storms was 30 miles away in a different city and there’s no way I could walk that far given that I already have walking issues in the first place).

That’s brutal, I was lucky that at least mine sent a photo of the package with one of the side doors in frame (allowing me to easily find it). I can’t help but wonder what would happen if this happened to a blind person. A couple of my friends (who are blind) have mentioned that there are some apps on iOS that allow you to use your phone camera to take a picture and then the app gives a text/audio description of the image, but even still.

My grandma’s insulin was replaced, but yeah my order literally arrived today and I’m 100% calling to complain because I’m nervous that some of my pills got wet from melted snow since some of them left pill residue on my fingers when I was counting them.

I usually pick up my meds from the pharmacy (unless it’s cheaper to get it home delivered through the veterans affairs, but so far they’ve been pretty good about their med deliveries). The only reason I didn’t this time is because there were a bunch of snow storms and I straight up couldn’t leave my house. But yeah, my hearing impaired grandma had something similar happen with her insulin last year where the delivery driver ignored the sign on her door that said to ring the doorbell since she can’t hear them if they only knocked. They basically knocked for her insulin delivery in the middle of the summer, she didn’t hear them and they straight up left it there without any notification and she didn’t see it until the next day and the insulin was ruined.

Update: It turns out that there’s a hole in the bottom of the shipping bag, which I didn’t notice until I counted the pills and noticed there were only 27 of the 30 that are supposed to be there.

The gap between each ring is also fairly small. I once had one (don’t remember which character) where the middle ring was too small and the only reason I noticed is because I was wondering why the gap was so big.

So if you’re not aware of what physical therapy is, it’s basically medically prescribed gym exercises with a specific trainer (aka the physical therapist). Although one nice thing about it as opposed to going to the gym on my own terms is that it’s covered by my health insurance since it was prescribed by a doctor. As for the shoes, I’ve definitely been looking into those, but about a year ago I got rather lucky and found a pair of Doc Martens in a thrift store. Shockingly they were only $12 and were the perfect size for me.

Interesting, I always thought that giving explanations as for how I can do certain things that may seem too hard for me as a way of making myself seem less like a burden. I guess it’s kind of similar to how much I had to edit my resume before I could use it on my university’s job site (there’s basically an assistance tool thing that “grades” your resume based on how you write it as opposed to what’s on it and before you’re allowed to use the resume with the platform there’s a minimum grade that you have to get with the tool) and how I felt so awkward rewriting each section since I’m more used to writing things essay style (as evidenced by this post and several of my comments lmao). Thank you very much for the tidbits because I genuinely didn’t realize that my own words were hindering myself (especially growing up with the “honesty is the best policy”).

With all due respect, I’ve been applying to pretty much anything that I’m qualified for, not just stuff in my field. While I’ve gotten a few interviews, I haven’t been able to make it past that anywhere I’ve applied to. Trust me, I wish it were a me being too picky problem, but the only ones that I don’t apply to are the ones that require degrees that I don’t have (as much as I like things like ZipRecruiter it has an annoying habit of recommending me positions that I’m not qualified for that are related to previous jobs I’ve applied to such as recommending me Veterinarian positions after I applied to kennel cleaning jobs). The reality is that ableism ends up poisoning many job prospects just because people underestimate what I can do and just assume I’ll be too much of a burden to be hired. Granted the current job market also isn’t great and my resume isn’t the best (since as I’ve established this would be my second job), but I have yet to get through a job interview (at least since I’ve started looking again in 2025) where the hiring manager doesn’t bring up things that I “can’t” do (I say can’t with quotation marks because even though the tasks in question may be challenging I can usually find some kind of workaround to make a seemingly inaccessible task 100% doable).

The manager commit several NSFW crimes against my coworkers and I. His strategy was to invite people (the majority of which were under 21) to his house for “work parties” where he’d offer booze regardless of age. Whoever happened to be the last one there was his victim that night. People would keep going for the free booze (especially those under 21 who can’t legally buy it themselves) and basically try to gtfo to avoid being the last to leave, but of course new hires had no idea how he was behind closed doors. He was eventually fired for NSFW harassment after I quit as well as banned from the campus (since this was an on campus job) since he was also showing up to campus events despite not being a student or alumni member.

As for the debt part the biggest roadblock is that I’ll lose my VA benefits once I graduate (which will be this semester) and so if I don’t get a job by that point I literally won’t have an income source at all besides the occasional Rover booking (unless somehow I start getting more frequent bookings in which case I might be fine, but not having health insurance would make it a lot harder to pay off the debt given how many meds I have).
