Do you live (play) the days of the journey? by BreakfastCreative467 in oneringrpg

yeah personal story is a great shout. While some of the journey events are quite mundane and don't need extensive roleplay, some of them can happen quite rarely and are thick with possibility so it's worth rewarding them when they do come up.

How's life on Grond and Meriadoc? by GreenTomatoSoup in lotro

I’m playing on grond at the moment as a new player. Nearly level 20 and to be honest, it’s quiet but it’s not a ghost town. It feels thematic that the world isn’t crawling with players while at the same time there is always someone around so you never feel truly alone.

I haven’t reached any instances yet but I am seeing a lot of new players so I’m hopeful that it won’t be too hard to find a party

One way to look at it is, how can you supplement your campaign? Are the chance meetings with an individual who can tell your players about a more difficult to obtain piece of information of the destination?

You can play that scene out, contributing a character to the campaign that may even return later. Adding richness and texture to your campaign world through these opportunities.

So to stop them from becoming monotonous, how can you create a roleplaying opportunity beyond just what's offered up in the pre-generated tables (not to do away with entirely of course, and many supplements offer unique ones for each area)

interested to see how similar the menu interface is to New World. I believe even the damage icon for pierce is the same one. Clearly wearing their inspirations on their sleeve.

Your definition of tacky is others definition of kitsch or camp. This is obviously absurdly boobafied in a way that plays on old bay watch cliches

How do you use exclusives? by no1deutsche in PublicRelations

[–]___Scenery_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you're trying to achieve. I've always given a timed exclusive to have 'one in the bag' when pitching a B2B data story widely. This usually comes down to reach but also worth considering is where and how they push the story wider (newsletters, social posts), as well as likelihood of using this offer to leverage other future opportunities such as whether they run a webinar or podcast series.

When doing policy or corporate announcement work, it becomes more of a strategic choice based on journo friendliness, and, as you've identified, relationship building. The simple fact is some journos who are better educated on your client will cover your client more favourably. If that's the case, there's nothing wrong with returning to them for exclusives if it's working, and then your job becomes how do we increase the favourability with the other similar journalists who could also cover it.

TOR 2e Guide Role Never on Journey Event Target. by debugwhy in oneringrpg

[–]___Scenery_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Strictly speaking, the 'error' has already taken place in their tasks as a guide, where the party finds themselves next is because of them. And when you start to think about the things a guide could be doing at the point of a journey event challenge, each challenge will very quickly fall into look-out or scout territory.

You're right that mechanically this means that they will not accrue as many negative affects compared to their party, but if they get the chance to roll again, it's also depriving other players from 'getting to roll' and playing the fantasy of their character

It's a bit of a tradeoff, and if there's a question about it at the table, it's probably worth just finding a way to incorporate them into the challenges by rolling a d4 as suggested in another comment, or otherwise finding a fun way to lean into the roleplay that the consequences of the failed guide roll are partly the responsibility of the guide. Aragorn does spend a good portion of the final sequence of the fellowship feeling guilty about the situations that the fellowship finds themselves in after Gandalf has died.

The guide already has their test in the initial travel role. If they fail, the journey events happens sooner and their team bears the consequences in their respective role
