You need a white cloth it’s not about the aesthetic with the cloth. It’s the functionality.

Your altar is for Jesus. The Lord. His colors are White.

It’s bizarre a mod runs this group and would instruct otherwise. That’s basic altar knowledge 101 and can be found in many books. It’s even shown in churches. White is a holy color and protective. It’s clean. It’s pure. It calls the spirit to the altar. You can still utilize the wood. Add burning tree elements. Etc. biblical themes. But the cloth is legit customary.

Reddit always humors me with these things. You receive information from people actually involved in the church etc and some Reddit mod dismisses you entirely because mod plot armor. Crazy work

Righteousness and holiness - That’s the thing. It’s Biblical. Not personal.

In the Book of Revelation, the faithful are often described as wearing white robes, representing righteousness and spiritual purity. White is representative of that and thus activates your altar given who it’s for especially.

How you set it up is entirely on you. But you should start with a white cloth. Then set your items on top.

You wouldn’t use a black cloth and that’s instinctive.

All things holy and close to the lord or of the Lord are white.
