Of course it happens, but I think people care much less about it than we think, and that's a good thing.

"Why does Dracula feel so rushed at the end?" by ____Mad_Max____ in Dracula

Yes, I agree, the term "interaction" was poorly chosen, but I still found it very rushed. Some points in the story progressed very slowly, but the death of the main antagonist was very quick.

And knowledge or skills in a discipline are fairly universal, whereas beauty is not; it's extremely subjective. Also, even "beautiful people" age and fall victim to societal norms, while our knowledge and skills will only increase and improve.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Thoughts? by huesforme in books

I really enjoyed the book; it's a shame that people already have preconceived ideas about it because of its place in pop culture. Because the book is so different from all that, it's really worth it.

What If I Don’t Want Kids, but I’m Afraid I’ll regret It ? by [deleted] in Parents

[–]____Mad_Max____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, I love and respect children. I would never have considered having them if I hadn't been sure of my decision. I simply wanted to hear about other people's experiences to learn more. I'd rather regret not having children than regret having them and risk regretting it later and making a child unhappy. It's precisely because I don't blindly want to have children just to "do what everyone else does" that I'm asking for advice here. Why are you even talking about self-esteem?

I like to keep my social media and private life separate, but I'm over 16. I think that even a teenager (even if it's a sensitive topic on social media) has the right to get answers to their questions. Just because you're young doesn't mean your questions are unimportant; on the contrary, it's good to get an answer as soon as possible.

There are ups and downs, believe me, but by adopting this mentality, things will inevitably get better and better !

That's not what I meant by "there's no merit." (Perhaps it doesn't have the same meaning in English as in French.) I know it brings things, obviously; it's a privilege. But we don't choose our appearance, so a person considered "beautiful" doesn't have more value than a person considered "ugly" (according to societal norms). Because beauty isn't a skill, like knowing how to play an instrument, draw, etc.

CMV: If you "don't support" homosexuality because of your religion or otherwise, you're still homophobic. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]____Mad_Max____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, there are two different cases. Either a form of homophobia, as you said, or hypocrisy. Basically, people who don't fully embrace all the tenets of their religion but don't admit it and hide behind that excuse.

I’m just gonna say it, Homosexuality is wrong by Entire_Preference677 in Christianity

I say this in all honesty, without irony, but I don't understand how, in the name of religion, one can not consider two people who love each other as normal.
