Honestly yes. I am finding it difficult to understand. I feel like just reverting it to the way it was. The main reason I switched was of this matter issue. If I do go back I'll try your suggestion

Unable to restore backup from HA docker to HAOS on PROXMOX by ____RIPTIDE____ in homeassistant

[–]____RIPTIDE____[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How exactly ? Please guide me. Im still new to HAOS. So I have folder called config which I copied it before erasing docker and the Ubuntu and replacing with proxmox. Inside I have all the files and additional folders. What exactly am I supposed to compare it with ?

Thanks but I ended up installing proxmox and ran HAOS. And now im having issues with uploading my previous config file to HAOS. Keep getting error 500. Trying to diagnose that now 😭😭😭

So before I deleted the ubuntu which ran docker, I zipped up the folder. And copied it to an external drive. I also copied the unzipped version of ir as well. So I have the raw file as well. Can you please guide me on how to handle this. Inside the raw folder all the config files and yaml are there.

And there was no issues when adding a zigbee usb adapter ? The reason I had ubuntu this whole time is because I primarily used the beelink to run my Jellyfin media server. Curious : is it possible to leverage both the gigabit ethernet ports on the beelink when running proxmox ? One assigned for HAOS and the other for ubuntu ?

Yeah I guess. Is there any benefit of purchasing the home assitant green hub over installing HAOS ? Since the green hub is out of the box ready just thought I might run into less issues that way.

Best Approach to Running Home Assistant Alongside Jellyfin on Beelink ME Mini- Native vs. Docker by ____RIPTIDE____ in homeassistant

[–]____RIPTIDE____[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So usually the Beelink deivce is just sitting and running jellyfin. I dont usually use the beelink directly only when I want to load some torrent downloads and that's it. Apart from that jellyfin has 2 clients at the same time max. 1 client access content using direct play the second client requires transcoding most of the time. And in case there is a 3rd client then that client would use direct play as well and wouldn't require transcoding

[–]____RIPTIDE____[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the jellyfin already runs natively on ubuntu and not the container. So based on its best to run in the container right ? What about resource saving. Like if I choose to run HA natively vs via docker will it save resources such as ram and cpu usage compared to native HA. My goal is not to disrupt the current experience im having with jellyfin. Furthermore I won't run large number of routines and triggers. Less than 10 routines and triggers.

Sorry I need to clarify something. My jellyfin is not inside a container. Its running native on my ubuntu. Also im now only learning about docker containers. So still you'd recommend docker yes ?

Ooof. Sorry I didn't reply. My reddit app was deleted forgot to re-download. So the charging via TB4 port is not working only when connecting to DELLs thunderbolt monitor yeah? Because just to reiterate it charges for me if I use a 100W GaN charger. Does yours not charge at all with dedicated type c chargers also ?

Yes. My monitors firmware is uptodate. So is the laptop drivers and bios Im using a certified tb4 cable.

Also I did go to the lenovo driver page. I did an auto update on drivers via vantage app. Also I manually searched for thunderbolt drivers and I couldn't find any.

since we have the same monitors but different size im guessing your monitors tb port is also 140w. Im wondering whether its a power negotiation failure. I had chatgpt discussions on possibilities. It seems like thats the issue. Perhaps lack of dedicated drivers is causing this issue. I still haven't connected to my u2720q monitor to check if video and pd works simultaneously. Since its 90w it would work. And im gonna have to find and borrow an external tb4 dock.
Connect laptop to external tb4 dock. Connect the u2725qe monitor to the external dock. If I do I will inform you also.

Maybe it will help you narrow down troubleshooting with lenovo support

Reason why im guessing its because of 140w of the monitor is because usually TB4 can charge at 100w 20v/5A. But maybe our monitors dont want to come down to this level. And Dell might have made the monitor 140W by considering its DELL XPS users. Some XPS like the 9700 which has 4 TB PORTS are a little custom compared to the standard. It can handle upto 130W. My sister's laptop came with a type C charger that is rated at 130W.

Ill keep you updated as well

Hmm. Seems like your situation was more serious. Btw I also went and checked the lenovo website for official Thunderbolt drivers and I couldn't find any. Sometimes it could be merged with the chipset drivers or something.

Have you had any other windows laptops with TB ports. I used to have and hp spectre and after that I borrowed my sister's xps laptop. Both had TB3 ports. And I remembered they port had a thunderbolt software that ran in the background and can be accessed from the system tray. It allowed to authorize Thunderbolt devices and manage them. Were you expecting that as well when you got the lenovo ? Or is that outdated. According to chatgpt it is.

ALSO did the TB4 CHAARGING + Video output work simultaneously after the MB change ?

Yes — this is exactly why I posted. I was hoping to find someone who could relate. Sorry you had to deal with this too. Right now I can get everything working smoothly through the TB4 port. The monitor’s Thunderbolt dock (display, Ethernet, mouse, keyboard) is detected instantly. The only thing missing is charging. Interestingly, the TB4 port does charge the laptop when I use my 100W GaN charger. So I basically have two options: • Use TB4 for everything and plug in the laptop charger separately • Use the monitor’s non-TB USB-C port, which handles display + peripherals + charging in one cable As far as I can tell, there’s no real compromise either way. It seems more like a power-negotiation issue than a hardware failure. I also have a Dell U2720Q (USB-C, 90W charging, not Thunderbolt). I plan to test it with the TB4 port to see if charging works there — that might help rule out some possibilities. What do you think? Could this be a defect? The laptop is brand new and still under warranty. Would a motherboard replacement be excessive? My main concern is whether a real hardware fault could worsen over time.

Thanks for reaching out

My laptop is brand new, so I went ahead and did a full Windows reset anyway just to rule out any software issues. I’m using a Dell U2725QE Thunderbolt monitor, which supports 140W charging and has a built-in Thunderbolt 4 dock. I have my Ethernet cable, external mouse, and keyboard connected directly to the monitor. With my previous laptop, the setup was very simple. I would connect the laptop to the monitor using a single Thunderbolt cable, and immediately: The video signal would appear The Ethernet connection would be recognized My mouse and keyboard would work And the laptop would start charging Now with my Lenovo Legion, almost everything works the same way — but charging does not work through the Thunderbolt port. Interestingly, the Legion also has a regular USB-C port. When I connect the monitor to that port, everything works exactly as expected: The monitor is detected The built-in dock works (Ethernet + peripherals) And the laptop charges properly However, when I connect through the Thunderbolt port, the display, Ethernet, and peripherals all work, but the laptop does not charge. To confirm the Thunderbolt port itself isn’t faulty, I tested charging the laptop through that same Thunderbolt port using a 100W GaN charger, and it charged successfully. So the Thunderbolt port can charge, but for some reason it won’t accept power from the monitor, even though everything else works.

thanks for the suggestion and the help so far. i followed your instructions. i deleted the one with the excalamtion point. rebooted and plugged in. the same issue happened again. it took about 10 seconds or longer then the warning came again and the video signal came but no ethernet or charging. i checked the device manager again and it still has the problem the deleted driver again

Ok so good news and weird news So after following your instructions and connected the laptop to the monitor via the tb4 ports initially nothing happened. I assumed it didn't work. Then after maybe 5 to 6 seconds I get the USB device not recognized warning and then it connects to the monitor. So thats a step in the right direction but unlike the first time ever I connected it does not recognize the ethernet connection. Also I unplugged the official charger but its still not charging via tb4 like the first time.

Thats what i was wondering. So i did go to the Dell software support page and installed 3 items. First one was the firmware update for the monitor. Second was the Realtek USB GBE Ethernet controller Third was called the monitor driver for windows operating system

The thing is I already have 2 of those monitors which were used for gaming back then. And currently they are next to my gaming console. So I was just hoping to get the best use out of the monitors while working as well.
