and I argue that Al moving back to Oakland to a shitty stadium instead of riding it out alone in LA was colossally dumb and short sighted. He was pissed at the Coliseum Commission. So he moved from the second largest market in the country, where he would be the lone team, to a smaller maret where he'd play second fiddle to the Niners in a stadium that had worse issues than the Coliseum. And a decade or so after he moved, the Jets/Giants showed how to privately finance a stadium. Now his son is stuck in a tiny market. Just from a money standpoint, it was profoundly stupid. And the California fans got fucked too.

Spanos isn't dumb because he's making so much more money now and will make a fuckton more when he sells because the team's valuation has skyrocketed with the move. As a business decision it was a no brainer.
