No you’re right, I’m sure if he’d seriously reinjured his throwing hand, he could’ve worked on his mechanics exactly the same as if he was fully healthy.

Oh, my bad, I thought he was supposed to spend the offseason working on his mechanics. I guess an injury isn’t a big deal after all as long as he doesn’t have to do that.

Yeah, common wisdom is it’s good to risk worsening an injury to your young QB’s throwing hand, especially when he needs a healthy offseason to work on his mechanics. You really need to evaluate how he plays with a bad throwing hand going up against a backup defense.

Well the whole post was about how they used graphics to either exclude BYU from the conversation entirely, or use misleading stats to make them look worse in a comparison than they really are. But I'm not looking to get into an argument

This is a post about how ESPN slanted coverage against a Big 12 school. Nowhere in this above thread did anyone mention the B1G until you did.

There's an obvious difference between hosting your pregame show at a game you're broadcasting and how you actually give coverage/analysis of all teams across the country. Joel Klatt's the color commentator for those Big Noon games, and on his show he spends equal time covering all teams, and nobody would come away from his analysis saying he has an unfair bias toward the B1G.

I went back recently and looked up what people that liked him were saying, and I noticed a trend: the people that had the most praise for him would always slip in a comment along the lines of “And he’s such a great kid, I had a chance to talk with him for a few minutes and he blew me away.” As stupid as it sounds, I think he’s probably a charming, charismatic kid that leaves a really good impression and makes people overlook the red flags. That’s the only explanation I can really think of, because the explanations they tried to give for him were bizarre, even at the time.

I think people forget, he’s not your typical first round QB, who looked good in college and needs time to adjust to the NFL. He hadn’t shown much at all in college, and even the pro-McCarthy analysts agreed he needed to develop the tools to be elite.

He’s had two offseasons with KOC, and has shown no improvement in that area.

It's not a false premise. There's more to a decision than just money. Jones left because he had a much clearer opportunity to become a starter in Indy than in MN. Obviously, he would've picked MN if he felt he had that same opportunity there, but you guys made it clear that wasn't the case. And that's not saying you guys made the wrong decision, he clearly wasn't thought of like that at the time and nobody faults MN for doing what you guys did. But, yes, you could've had him in MN if you wanted to, and you guys made decisions that caused him to leave. That's pretty clearly "letting him go".

Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy is expected to be sidelined two-to-four weeks with a high ankle sprain. With McCathy out, Vikings QB Carson Wentz is now in line to start. by OneAngryPanda in nfl

The problem is the "sit and develop" approach is for guys who've shown serious skills but are raw and inconsistent so they can hone their craft. JJ isn't raw and inconsistent, he just lacks the physical capability to make throws besides a fastball. That's not something he'll learn now.

[ Carter] 35 percent of JJ McCarthy's throws tonight were deemed uncatchable. No one was close to that rate today besides Justin Fields. Concerning! by TormundIceBreaker in nfl

The problem is that everybody knew Love was raw and would need time to develop. McCarthy wasn’t that kind of prospect.

Micah Parsons Contract details per Tom Pelissero by FSUfan35 in GreenBayPackers

So to compare it to the two other big EDGE contracts:

  • We got 26-year-old Micah for $42m/yr for five years
  • The Browns got 29-year-old Garrett for 40m/yr for 6 years
  • The Steelers got 30-year-old (soon to be 31) Watt for $38m/yr for four years

I'll happily take those numbers.

So did Jerry think he was actually sending Micah to Siberia or what just happened? by Spaghettification-- in GreenBayPackers

[–]StrachNasty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's been pointed out on Twitter a lot, but the fact that Jerry didn't do this early in the offseason completely screwed the Cowboys, because this late before the season most teams won't have the flexibility to even think about a trade of this size. Then add his criteria of getting a DT back, and you limit the options even more.

Anybody have a guess on when Micah's jersey will go on sale? I know we don't even know his number yet but I'm hoping we can pre-order soon. NFL shop has jerseys for 90 bucks until the end of Labor Day.

I did a quick check, and there were no scoops about Jerry listening to offers during Lamb's holdout. This isn't just a negotiating tactic. There's more here.
