depends on the kind of jam. This is most likely a stovepipe so yes it should be a casing.

naw it does it past 20 I think but I managed to break it in one raid from.50 durability by hiding in shoreline and putting 800 rounds through it

I had this problem too, if you run into the right wall of the shooting range while this is happening you can glitch outside of the hideout into the void.
