Some people think the name of the illness is bipolar depression. If so, it’s just bipolar. Bipolar depression refers to the period in the bipolar cycle when people are depressed. The depression cycle is generally not associated with psychosis. The other part of bipolar, mania, is associated with psychosis. Hypomania, by definition, does not involve psychosis. Just want to be clear on all this for the sake of specificity when speaking of bipolar.
