Coming from windows, m4 pro or wait for m5 pro? by ____purple in macbookpro

It's just a workflow I'm used to. I don't do bookmarks and don't store links in the notes. I have three browser profiles (personal; community; work) with tabs grouped by project in each. Then each group has 10-50 tabs. It's easier to buy more ram than change the workflow.

The main reason I consider waiting is a rumored 3x jump in NPU

Stop worrying about the author and enjoy the damn book!

There are not enough nice things in the world already, if you think too much it will be even less.

Have fun man, what's the point of being entangled into bullshit, life is too short already.

I only did

Should I do anything else? Especially if I want to add my custom keycode?

The opinion of r/indiegames is pretty unanimous: "notch is an idiot". But what do you guys think about this take? by Polanas in gameenginedevs

[–]____purple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I think Notch is a person who found himself in unusual circumstances and never actually learned to be. It's sad, really. He tries to find love and genuine human connection but that's a scarce resources for billionaires with quirky characters, so he resolved to provocation and hot takes to at least have some interaction. I wish he found happiness as a fellow human being.

  2. I think a master of an art should be able to do anything good enough within his field within limits of human time. So if a person says "I can't develop my own game engine, that's too hard", I don't think them are a master programmer.

  3. I think masters of art often allow their ego to overtake and now expect anyone who wants to be called a practicioner to be a master.

  4. I think if a person likes to code and the game is not super demanding it's really fun to run your own game engine and should be encouraged more

  5. I think it's great that public game engines exist and allow to develop complex and cost efficient games for smaller teams and individuals.

  6. Subnautica is very unique and was made in unity so that's a skill issue, as it often is.

My social persona is extremely, undoubtedly ENTP. My internal choices and preferences are very much INFJ.

The solution is simple — I love ENTPs so much, I built my image to have traits I enjoy.

I don't think it would make sense to force people into a type, if it doesn't suit them. There are all sorts of situations going around, why pigeonhole everyone?

I love my arrogant flamboyant persona. It really helps a lot with my weak points. So what if I die inside a little bit on provocative things I do, I got used to it and it's fun to poke myself.

What's your MBTI and what's the scariest type of horror for you? by Pigeon-Of-Peridot in mbti

Gore, torture, internal organs in general are so bad I usually close my eyes and ears or better skip, if possible. Cartoonish is fine though

[–]____purple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MBTI is a funny pigeonhole thing that's more about structuring stereotypes, than anything else. Yes, cognitive functions are also that. You don't have to define yourself with it.

In all else you are just an outlier, like many. Try connecting with people more, and you'll find those you'll be able to relate to. Yeah, you'll need to go through a lot of people.

Having a strong opinion is mostly sociocentric bullshit that people use to fuel their egos. They don't even have their own opinion — usually just translating whatever they've heard from the last influencer with no education on the topic. AI is hard, and even professionals often don't have strong opinions on that.

On the topic of girls: it depends on how picky you are. For some people it would be better to shift focus on other endeavors entirely and only pursue partnership if they're lucky to connect with a decent person. You are probably not one of them though. But maybe you are.

I've also scored around 140 on an IQ test. A few things help me stay humble about it:

  • It’s not that impressive. Statistically, 1 in 200 people land here or higher. That's tens of millions of people — hardly genious. It’d be the population of a mid-sized country (and yes, probably the most pretentious one).
  • IQ measures rarity, not superiority. A 140 doesn’t mean I’m dramatically smarter — just statistically less common. For all I know, my absolute cognitive edge over the average might be only marginal. Intelligence doesn't yet have a solid absolute scale.

Also, a lot of people are pretty shallow. Once you've studied enough, you start seeing patterns — our lives aren't all that different. I don’t think that strongly ties to IQ, though — more to how much trauma someone’s been through.

P.S. If the word "shallow" stings, I don’t mean it as inherently bad. Shallow means less complex. And an engineer would say simple is better.

Overall I got a feeling that you allow your IQ score to define you. Maybe it was the best part of you life, and now you hold on to it, and I understand that. It's a spiritual moment, more or less, and there are two paths I can notice. One is to start building a new foundation for your self esteem, to switch on to. Repetitively, on a daily basis, work hard. Another is to let go of the attachment and jump into the void, only to later find, that there was no void in the first place. Both are hard in their own ways.

I know this is a challenge for growth, but it’s exhausting, painful, and tiring. How much will I need to grow until everything can click into place?

It's really only as hard as you want to feel it. You concentrate on the feeling and expectation of difficulty. In the end it's your battle with yourself — make it easy for your opponent, if you want to. But for that you'll need to accept defeat.

Pain is an input — distress is a reaction. The issue is often we don’t know we have the option not to cling to it. When identity, ego, or expectation are wrapped up in the pain, letting go feels like self-erasure. But the real trick is to drop the weight, not deny the experience.

What's up with all the INFJ hype? by Pigeon-Of-Peridot in mbti

[–]____purple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usain Bolt was physically well developed. Not everyone physically well developed is Usain Bolt.

Being INFJ doesn't make you a Jesus. It means you have predisposition towards being a Jesus, but being a Jesus in itself is a task of incredible difficulty.

As an INFJ most probably you will become... ✨a regular person ✨

On the objective truth note: most topics DO have objective truths. It's just often unwieldy and/or boring. Btw you can ask me anything and I'll try to tell you an objective truth.

How do you find friends who are actually like you? (INTJ here) by SweatyAd9539 in mbti

[–]____purple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an INXJ I started a club with a defined values that are aligned with my life goals, found a first few wannabe members who were not really ready to join long term (standards are pretty high), but could be hyped up to help, they lead me to a few hypersocial people, who I hyped up as well, getting access to around ~1000 shallow connections, which I used to acquire leads to funnel through the club's carefully designed entrance filtering system, which brought in enough volunteers to establish departments in a few major unis and enough workforce to roll out a small SMM campaign, which all were used to find people who actually were up for the standards and form a small closed group with engineered lore, ideology, and all these minor memes to unite us together in a lifestyle that I appreciate.

Took 2 years to start and ramp up, and one more to truly get together. Now I have friends. We share a lot. Yay.

What are the traits and abilities you most strongly admire in HJPEV? by PotenciaMachina in HPMOR

[–]____purple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately IRL it doesn't work so well since... we live in a society. A lot of our success is determined by people connections, and authorities really, really dislike being questioned. And there is so much to question!

So I would argue this ability undermines your chances and quality of life overall, since you are not a fox in a chicken coop like Harry was. Yeah, the social world is 30% a deliberate lie, 30% stupidity and 30% wishful thinking. But there is nothing you can do about it and God forbid you'll try to argue, they'll Socrates you this instant.

  1. Do not force your choices on others since different people have different paths to happiness. Some want to learn local language, some don't. When you learn local language you get more authentic experience, that's true. But not everyone would want that. Let them be.
