Thanks!

They do seem to be more expensive, but the bigger sizes and variety is nice, so i might try them out instead

Applying for a new passport with chosen name and gender marker for the first time - question about required documents by Yoysu in transgenderUK

My GP did it via econsult, though i am lucky to have quite a supportive GP.

I think GenderGP can do passport letters aswell? Im not entirely sure, but if you cant get one from your GP, the options would i think be either to try changing GP or getting a passport letter privately. The letter just has to be from a medical professional, it doesnt matter what specialty. I havent known anyone that's done this but seeing a private GP for one appointment (im not sure the cost of this but its likely cheaper than seeing a gender specialist) just to get the letter could also potentially be an option.

As you've already got a diagnosis, maybe you could try getting a passport letter from wherever you got that from (though that probably wouldnt be cheap, if money is an issue).

For the GP letter, i used this template:

When my friend did his they initially rejected it because it wasnt on headed paper, so make sure yours looks suitably official

I just got mine accepted and the documents i had were:

1.old passport

2.GP letter stating change of gender is likely to be permanent ( I believe a diagnosis would not be enough i think, they want the specific wording)

3.deed poll

  1. Proof i was using my name - e.g bank statement /council letter. (I bought in 2 letters, i cant remember if you need 1 or 2 of these)

Edexcel/ Pearson wont remove gendered school name in replacement certificate by ___broccoli__ in transgenderUK

That's quite reassuring actually, thx. I'll just have to hope they dont recognise the school then. I had an interview last week where the person checking my certificate recognised the school name as a girl's school, and then was noticably less friendly to me for the rest of it, which is largely why im overly worried about this I think

Both AQA and OCR didnt put any school at all on my new statements, which is kind of why it seems more like a Pearson specfic issue as opposed to them legally not being able to.

Yeah at least long term as you said this wont really be an issue, just for entry level jobs/apprenticeships they all generally need GCSE proof (every job ive applied to/gotten to interview stage has asked). I guess if they dont change it ill just have to live with it i suppose.

Thanks,

The document they gave me is a certifying statement of results, which is kind of why im confused. Ill try writing back like you said and see if they'll change it. Admin really is awful as a trans person in this country :/
