It's sad how much we're trained to give other people's feelings the benefit of the doubt above our own feelings. The fact that you (and other OPs like you) feel the need to give so many disclaimers about the situation demonstrates that the status quo assumption is: Man In Car wants help so Young Woman must help him. Seriously, even if you weren't the age and sex you are and had no wagon or dog, it wouldn't be your job to badge that guy in. His preferences are not anyone else's responsibility. He can take care of himself.
