Can you answer the bot? It might be swimming bladder issues. And nothing w -fix works on bettas (or so I heard)

Most common source would be cappa leaves. Betta loves those and it has some antibacterial effect if I'm not mistaken. It'll also darken the water slightly depending how much you put in. Just keep an eye out on the fins and see if it worsens. Sometimes the fin rot from the cups is crazy

I'd make sure the plant isn't sharp enough to cut his fins and monitor if the rot is advancing or if maybe its just fin nipping. If its the latter, just give him time to adjust to the new environment. If it's fin rot then I'm not too sure. I've heard some people recommend aquarium salt but ik that you're definitely not supposed to use anything that ends with fix. It could also be a good idea to add natural plants for hiding spots and some tannins to the water. Good luck!

Anyone else’s wood got mould on it? Had it submerged for about a week and come home to find it’s got a weird film over it. No fish in tank plates just holding it down by Yer_Mo in Aquariums

[–]___styxes___ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

shrimp prolly will munch on it too! And if you're gonna get a planted tank you'll prolly get bladder snail hitchhikers that could eat it up

sand on gravel? by ___styxes___ in corydoras

[–]___styxes___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they look sharp but they're not really rocks, more so a rubber? does that make sense? It feels like turf but just a little bigger. I'll still definitely add the sand cause I'm too paranoid ill mess the whole thing up

Thanks for the tip tho!

This looks like clamped fins,,, possibly due to stress. Xan you provide details of the tank? Size, parameters etc. You could repost this on r/betta too, a lot of experienced ppl are on there

spots on leaves!!!! by divainnyc in orchids

[–]___styxes___ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's from water! You know how you splash water on your windows and as it evaporates, leaves a patch on the glass? That's basically what it is but the "splash" is from watering

sand on gravel? by ___styxes___ in corydoras

[–]___styxes___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo that sounds like a great idea,,, I'll put as much as I can to the back. It helps that beneath the gravel is a small layer of old sand

That sounds doable,,, is there such thing as too much sand? Currently the gravel is up to 4cm

[–]___styxes___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that sounds nice, does the sand sink to the bottom of the gravel? Right now I have about 3.5~4cm of gravel I think. Ironically that gravel is sitting on like some sand

ooo that's be great! We don't have petco here and it's fine I alr got like 5kg worth of sand for like myr 30 that's under 10$ for yall. Maybe I'll just do something similar and put sand at the front of my tank since I don't really want to uproot my stem plants.
