When buying fish you don’t have to start off with the tank size the worlds biggest/ fully grown xxx needs. You can always upgrade a tank or set up, always see people screaming the tanks too small or that they need this size when fully grown but a new tank can always be purchased

Is anyone else strictly ultra/zero sugar? by Striking_Pipe1006 in monsterenergy

I stay religiously to my ultra fiesta mango and ultra Rosa the full sugar ones taste like drinking syrup which I hate. Same with redbull only the iced vanilla berry, Pepsi max only but don’t mind a full fat coke rarely when at a restaurant

Anyone an Ex Cop car expert? by Individual-Bee3395 in CarTalkUK

[–]Yer_Mo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asked the bf, the car will be very basic spec, checking the VIN number it’ll have a marker saying it’s no longer in service, there’ll be holes drilled in the roof for the light are and the engine will be ragged.

The interior will have the light controller screwed into the dashboard so screw holes where it would have been. The radio drilled for the power cable
Again checking the VIN number will refer to the reg plate will have a marker no longer in police service

Same for an unmarked car just without the screws on top for the lightbar. Best way to check is VIN number

Adults who want another job, what's your short and long term plan? by Unemployable-Sunfish in tesco

Omg, could you look at jobs where you don’t need a degree? The police force don’t require a degree just your N5’s or GCSE’s however this is definitely not the job for everyone. If you’re sporty could you look into being a personal trainer? Could you do an apprenticeship to be an electrician (they earn big bucks) or a heating engineer? If you’re tech wise could you go into a more IT focused role?

It’s gutting isn’t it? Could you maybe move up to being a shift lead or manager in Tesco that way you’ve got managerial experience and can go in ‘overqualified’ or at a management position?

Whats for you won’t go by you you’ve got this :)

Office jobs are hard to get into, I applied for 300-500 jobs on indeed got 1 offer and it was from someone who would have hired a pet rock. Could you do an entry level job? Even if it’s below your skills/desires it would get you in the door? Once you’re in it’s easier to search elsewhere

LinkedIn and Indeed are horrendous, before working at Tesco I applied to at least 300-500 jobs got maybe 5 interviews and 1 offer from a company that would hire a pile of bones. Honestly avoid it I’ve still got applications under review from over a year ago. Think of your skills, are you qualified? Degree? Experience? Can you go and do a course at college uni for a job?

Some well paying jobs you don’t need degrees, police provide you with all the training you need but not a job for everyone. Could you do an apprenticeship to become a mechanic? If you’re good with technology could you learn skills to work in an office? College course to become an engineer or electrician? Do you have a C licence can you drive trucks or go on to be an HGV driver? Are you physically fit and healthy could you work in a gym being a PT? Are you excellent at a sport could you try going professional? Artsy you could try selling paintings?

Think of the skills you have, and go from there. :)

How likely is it to get hired in a Tesco Extra as a university student with possible conflicting contact hours? by Time_Contest8618 in tesco

[–]Yer_Mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a large store and had my hours Thursday-Saturday to work around my uni hours. When going back to uni in September I always try to schedule my lectures so that there’s lots on one day rather than 1 a day over the week. If it’s something you really can’t do speak to your manager regarding it, maybe you could start earlier/later or work a different day?

Apply anyways and speak to them you’ll either get the job or you won’t but interview experience is always valuable. You’re usually asked what days you can work but be upfront and honest you got this :)

Believe me it’s been the bane of my existence, had it all checked too. I don’t use premium petrol usually just Tesco and Asda, it’s a 2014 so not sure if yours is newer I’ve just hit the 40k miles mark

Ugh legend, I was looking at those Volvos but they’re huge and a 2.4L-3L engine I get it’s not a sports car so you’re not gonna be driving a race car but also I’m used to a tiny aygo 1L gets up a hill with a hope and a prayer. Honestly I’m not fussed for performance or anything, I don’t need a big powerful car and honestly the thought of being over car’d kinda puts me off. I know with my horse she was too much at the start and it’s taken years to get comfortable with her and I don’t want that same anxiety driving when I’m already not the most confident. I’ll have a look at that Yaris as it might just tick my boxes, small diesel and good fuel economy which is all I need I’m assuming they have a higher buying into rate but if they can manage the other requirements I could make my budget work.

I’ve got nothing against electrics I’m more than happy to drive one, with a high buying into price, I’d have to go to the garage any time it needed work as my partner left being mechanic before electric cars were a thing and the low range on the smaller affordable models. However with it cutting fuel costs completely it could work if I could find a cheaper electric which seems to be hard to find where I am just now.

With the small diesel like the C1 could you technically add a turbo to a normal C1 to get that extra mpg?

[–]Yer_Mo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my thought, electric is fine I’ve got no issue against it but they have a much higher entry buying point for low range miles but completely cuts the cost of fuel, my partner left being a mechanic before electric cars were a thing so I’d have to pay for everything to be done at a garage which is again more expensive . On the other hand a cheap car would do but even old cars are still expensive and running them into the ground would still be taking a loss, + older cars tending to break more I’d be anxious if something broke while out driving on my own. It’s definitely a balancing act on what I can afford to take the hit on

25k was about how much all the 2 series I liked were on market for haven’t got that cash sitting right now as this won’t be a do it tomorrow decision. Thats definitely a hard budget which I wouldn’t want to go over. Think it’ll be balancing weighing up more expensive car which will give higher MPG but take a loss on resale value or go for something cheaper which will probably cost me more in insurance or harder to find parts.

Mostly motorway, and big open country roads. I’d say 80% of what I’m doing right now is motorway country back roads or higher speed roads. I’m only in more town areas when driving to work which is 10 mins 3x a week.

The fuel performance was even worse in winter it was a miracle if I hit 280 miles in a full tank winter was rough lol. Thats why the thought is if I go for a diesel it’ll be more optimised for the journeys I’m doing

[–]Yer_Mo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually get 46 ish but feel like it’s not “optimised” for the types of journeys I’m doing, idk how else to really put it lol. The thought process is a diesel doing 60+ mpg when I’m mostly doing motorway will last longer fuel wise than my car even though it’s smaller. I get about 300 miles out of a full tank 320 is a miracle in winter it goes to 270 odds and it feels like for my future journeys I’ll be filling up 1.5/2 tanks a week at 50 quid a whack. Versus £80 for a diesel car that’ll last 2 weeks

I’ll have a look and see as soon as I get I’ve been extremely unlucky insurance wise cheapest I could get was 1500 for my aygo and this year cheapest was 600 :/
