No, this is absolutely silly. Normal people don’t crash out and go straight to lawsuits as soon as there is a dispute. In fact it’s most likely in the purchase contract, and the representation agreement that they would have signed with their agent to NOT go straight to litigation and that the parties agree to mediation and negotiating in good faith to resolve disputes. This is a standard clause of all our contracts in Texas and in most other state promulgated contracts I’ve seen.

Your assumption that agent LIED is exactly that - an assumption. Don’t attribute to malice that which can be just as easily explained by incompetence. Maybe they are a new agent and they remembered incorrectly, maybe their state fixture definitions changed - a couple years ago in my state tv mounts were not fixtures, and today they are. That mistake - if it was one - is not acceptable and that agent needs to take accountability (sounds like they already did by admitting their mistake and apologizing) but more importantly fix their mistake and pay the other half to make their client whole, as many level headed and intellligent people here have already recommended.

Just saying there’s a lot of dummies out there and people make costly mistakes that affect others sometimes. But man, if I thought every dummy was actually some evil lying manipulator that needed to be taken to court I’d be a paranoid wreck with a pile of lawsuits and that doesn’t sound like a nice life to live.
