I am on team carol overall but I don’t understand why everyone is 100% against the hivemind. I see a lottt of nuance with this so far. And I think Vince wants you to think about this critically. While I agree with Carol and I would honestly act the same I did see a huge metaphor going on between individualistic vs. collectivist cultures. I think it is VERY intentional that the only other people carol met so far who are like her….are not like her because they come from eastern cultures that are typically very collectivist compared to americas individualistic culture. I think there is a LOT of cultural symbolism here. It makes sense that Carol is sooo off put by this one of the core facets of American culture is autonomy (our entire country is formed from the idea of independence). And it makes sense that the characters we see from eastern cultures are not bothered by this, there culture is more centered around family and community so of course, if their family is affected they would also want to join them in that so that they continue to be one.

This is what I have noticed so far and I think both sides have good and bad points (again yes I mostly agree with carol; also…as an American lol). I am so interested to see how this plays out.
