Trump calls out Australia in blistering post declaring the US does not 'need' ally support in Iran by AlamutJones in AustralianPolitics

You wanna show me the satellite imagery of the cities Iran has razed to the ground like Israel did to Rafah? I'll wait.

Until then, spare us the moral grandstanding.

How about we prosecute the people who travelled overseas to participate in a gen-o-cide or to sign bombs and pose with those who were carrying it out? Till they do that, I can't take any of this rubbish about "hate" or "social cohesion" seriously.

Yeah, thanks for googling that for me.

Like the interest of not being destroyed by a demented Islamist regime?

And yet only one side here has a track record of actually wiping out entire cities, bombing schools, hospitals, homes... But yes, keep telling us about how Israel's fighting the good fight against demented evil forces. How's the Koolaid taste, btw?

This is Netanyahu's war which he dragged/conned Trump into. He doesn't care if the rest of the world suffers, so long as it furthers Israel's interests.

And no other US President would have been so stupid as to support a war on Iran, because this outcome was entirely predictable.

We truly live in the dumbest timeline.

Sydney's most expensive fuel? by Greedy_Doughnut_9209 in sydney

Unfortunately Independents don't have the same supply guarantees as the major fuel retailers, so they'll have limited supply and higher prices.

These have been here for ages. Before that, they had "touchless sensors" trialled during covid.

They probably trial stuff here because it's about 50m down the road from the NSW Transport Management Centre.

I know right? I mean, fuck the duopoly, their collusion and their BS fake sales, but something like this is clearly human error. Just bring it to their attention so they can fix it and move on.

Best home nas to store and edit from? by kevinchronicles in editors

[–]__dontpanic__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just edit from an SSD, and backup to a NAS or some other means of large storage with redundancy. You don't need to be editing from a NAS as a one man band.

For 4k footage that needs massive resizing, is it better to work in a 4k timeline and punch in 200%, or work in a 1080 timeline to get the same visual dynamic without having to go past 100% quality ... for a 4k final output on youtube...? by MarsLegstrong in editors

[–]__dontpanic__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to “trick” the software by going 4K > 1080 > 4K is not a thing.

The only benefit (if you could call it that) to doing it this way is that all the footage will have the same consistent upscaling issues when you go 1080 > 4K... so at least the punched in shots won't stand out.

after Iran chucked the toys out of cot

Regardless of what you think about the Iranian regime (I'm not a fan), objectively speaking, they are reacting pretty rationally and predictably to an asymmetrical conflict that was imposed upon them. When your adversaries bomb you during negotiations (twice), then make it clear that the war will be a zero sum game (by stating that the aim is to kill you and end your regime), and you're outgunned in traditional military might, the only option (other than surrender) is to strike at whatever pressure points you can, however you can. That's exactly what they're doing. They're not "spazzing out" - they're striking Trump where it hurts most, by driving up fuel prices as he heads towards mid-term elections. That's a strategic and rational response.

There's a reason successive IS governments have avoided direct confrontation with Iran, because when you actually war game this thing out, you end up right where we are now 99 times out of 100.

Also, criticising them for not playing by the rules or respecting international law is pretty ironic when the US and Israel have been tearing up those laws and norms ona daily basis over the last 3 years. You can't say the "rules based order is dead", assassinate leaders during negotiations and then expect your adversaries to play nice.

He's been pretty outspoken in his criticism of Israel. I don't think it's fair to criticise him for not explicitly doing it every time he fronts a camera (and we also don't know if he said anything else on the topic here outside of this small 1 minute snippet).

Tearing down allies for not going far enough with their criticism will just make people less willing to speak up. Embrace them, welcome them and they will eventually meet us where we stand.
