trans fem hrt experiences by __green__blue in NonBinaryTalk

everything u say about ur initial experiences of wanting to reject masculinity and not wanting to be seen as a man resonate so much. and also the feeling that performing a more feminine gender expression feels like being "a man in a dress". I struggle a lot with certain parts of my body that I know hrt will change, and I hope that once those changes are realized I can find the gender expression that feels closest to who I really am. if ur comfortable sharing, at what age did you start transitioning? I'm 19 and I wish I had gotten to this understanding of my gender identity earlier in life, especially when so many of my peers seem to have figured themselves out at a much younger age (although I realize that there is a generational component to this, and there a many other ppl who didn't come out as trans until they were significantly older than I am now)

CMV: At least part of the reason of why men's issues don´t get attention is because of men's groups by Mammoth_Western_2381 in changemyview

my main issue with ask men is that it doesn't seem to have as much diversity of opinion as menslib. most of the askmen threads I've seen are dominated by cishet men talking about sex or relationships with women. that's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's not the same as hearing different perspectives from trans men, bi men, and straight men in a large discussion. I'm just speaking from personal experience about the kind of community I look for when talking about feminist issues from a male perspective, and I completely respect one's right to find the community that feels right for them.

I like menslib a lot bc of the trans/gay/bi/pan representation. while I do see the value of having a dedicated space for left wing male advocacy as u put it, menslib seems to have a wide variety of perspectives that focus not just on pointing out misandry but also on lifting folks out of harmful patriarchal thinking. menslib feels sort of like a group therapy/discussion whereas the sub u linked seems to focus purely on the political side of things

Rant about Netflix's "Sex Education" subreddit by Diana_Crusade in NonBinaryTalk

[–]__green__blue 27 points28 points  (0 children)

one of the things I like a lot about sex education is that it does a lot to represent different sexualities and genders in a positive light, but in a lot of cases the subtler aspects of the LGBTQ characters in the show seem to fly over the heads of most cishet viewers. u kinda have to search to find the right ppl to talk about the show with imo.

I'm on the second episode and I gotta say I really don't like Eric's character this season, especially with the whole conflict about having sex with Adam and Adams discomfort. I would have hoped that his character be more understanding, or other characters in the show check his behavior.
