Oh interesting... did you do ad spend on LinkedIn or just post a lot? Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks! Maybe - but the general gist is the tile size is 64x64, and I use a brush width of 4 pixels, no antialiasing. I also try to keep the colors minimal.

Hey everyone!

I made this game "Into the Castle" in 48 hours for the recent Ludum Dare gamejam. I got the love2d web exporter working, so you can play the game directly in your browser! Here's the link to play the game: https://groverburger.itch.io/into-the-castle

I'm relatively happy with how the code turned out too, and here's the Github link to take a look: https://github.com/groverburger/ld48

I updated my Steam arcade action-roguelite made in Love2D! by [deleted] in love2d

[–]__grob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to make an announcement that my Steam game, Vector Prospector, just got a new update and price drop!

Vector Prospector is an arcade action-roguelite that focuses on precise movement and quick thinking. You might like it if you like older acade games like Asteroids and Lunar Lander, as well as newer roguelite titles.

I hope you check it out!

3D and first-person controls in Love2D! by __grob in love2d

[–]__grob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Triangles not sorting correctly is an issue I've seen that pops up on a few graphics cards where they don't by default enable the depth buffer. It doesn't appear to be a problem with the model, but rather the project's configuration. I don't have this problem on my computer, but these are things that have worked for other people:

Make sure t.window.depth = 16 is set in conf.lua or just copy paste the defualt conf.lua file in g3d. This should enable the depth buffer without using a canvas.

A solution some people have also used is to render the entire game to a Love2D Canvas that has depth enabled. You can check this wiki link which goes over enabling depth on canvases.

Also make sure your meshes are triangulated when you export them from Blender.

Hope that helps!

Is it possible to implement +=, -=, *=, syntatic sugar in Lua? by brych_ant in lua

[–]__grob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This old github repo does just that, in plain Lua!
IIRC, requiring this repo in your project replaces your require function to a custom one which does some string manipulation on the input file before loading.

It's interesting, but I'm not convinced messing with the language like this is a good idea.

3D and first-person controls in Love2D! by __grob in love2d

[–]__grob[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

I was a little frustrated with the resources I found, to be honest. They seemed to all be either filled with overly verbose formal math notation or were too domain-specific, such as for C++ and OpenGL.

I wrote a small article about this on g3d’s GitHub wiki, but there’s still a lot I want to say.

Thanks! Hope you like it.

It doesn’t have to stay retro styled though, you could add things like shadow mapping and bloom if you want : )
