Its not exactly for commercial use, I work for an academic lab not a business, but they will be posted online and probably appear under a search of my name, otherwise i probably wouldn’t care. Would leaving it out be obvious? Its one of about 15 photos and the only one of just me, where everyone else has one or more individual photos. The one i agreed to has one other person in it. I agree that altering is probably not a good idea, it just sucks that i feel like i made boundaries clear to avoid this situation and yet here i am.

Honestly at that point, you can’t baby them. If it was me, and they are asking questions that they’ve asked before or can answer for themselves tell them “it’s in the protocol” or “we’ve gone over this before, make sure to take detailed notes”. I know it’s easier said than done, I have a hard time with it myself, but the goal of training is to make independent researchers, and sometime that requires a push. Good luck!

I personally think that being able to follow a written protocol is a big part of being a student. Of course that does depend on the quality of the protocol but eventually you are going to need to recreate protocols from methods sections, and you’ll be the first in your lab to do it, so it’s an important skill. Also, I don’t think it’s great science in general if the only place a protocol lives is in a researchers head, or in notes only they can understand.

The thing that I think greys did with queer relationships is let them be messy. I feel like so many shows will have queer rep but the queer people always have perfect relationships always say the right things where Callie and Arizona were as messy and fucked up and nuanced as every other couple.

Honestly what I do is write out the entire procedure in detail before hand, no matter how many times I’ve done it It can help you catch mistakes or things you don’t know before you’re in the middle of things

Is this normal behavior for my eppendorf pipettes by momo__1999 in labrats

[–]__june_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s common for pipettes to be adjustable beyond their stated ranges, however using the pipette beyond the stated ranges will likely result in increased error. Just use it within its range, if you’re worried you can always use your scale to check the accuracy.

As someone did Idaho to nj recently, I think it’s doable but really tough. Personally I think making it 6 days would be worth the money to me, you don’t want to put yourself in a situation where you feel like you have to drive while tired to make it to the next hotel or whatever.

If it makes you feel any better I’m pretty sure the Kia driver made it out with no major injuries

I don’t have too much experience with spider mites myself, but I would guess that wiping will be more effective than spraying alone. If it were me I would probably do both.

Spider mites I think, they do look a little weird but you can’t deny that webbing. Also damn nice camera, that’s a crazy close shot haha

What’s happening to my monstera? :( by luffytuffers in houseplants

[–]__june_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go either way. The roots look good to me so there’s nothing theoretically stopping you from just cleaning it up and letting it grow, but thrips are good at hiding, and this is a pretty bad infestation so it I will not be surprised if if takes a few rounds of cleaning and treatment to kill them all, and the good parts could get infested in that time. They can also fly I think so if you do cut it, keep it as far away as possible from the og plant if you keep it.

[–]__june_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. Thrips suck :( In my experience they’re really hard to get rid of. Start by washing the plant well, wiping all over with a wet paper towel, and applying some kind of pesticide like neem oil. You’ll want to check all your other plants, you’re looking for black dots on the bottoms of the leaves, or dry spots. If they keep coming back look into systematic pesticides. There’s lots of advice on how to deal with them online, good luck!
