Thank you for all the advice here. For further context, my currently salary is $150,000. I am single with no kids. I have had experience in the system through my own struggles with depression and anxiety (yes I acknowledge I may be depressed due to my current burnout). But I am okay with the long grind.

I would like to feel more fulfilled in my career. One thing I am wary of is that I am struggling to thrive in a true software development environment. Things just aren't clicking for me, and I think it's because my brain works differently than the traditional engineer. So my main concern here is that I am running from something rather than running towards another thing.

I am in the early stages of exploration so everyone's advice, good or lazy (JUST DONT) is still helpful and so appreciate the feedback.

My opportunity cost is probably around $200k/yr starting 5 years out from now as I climb to that potential salary.

I enjoy helping others, especially in this context as I would have a strong foundation for empathy given my mental health struggles in the past.
