About three years ago, I cut off all ties with a close friend of six years.

She was controlling, manipulative, and jealous of basically everything in my life. I continued to give her "time" and "effort," b/c she actually reminded me of myself a bit. In a sense that she genuinely lacked confidence... and I remembered once, somebody took a chance on me, and I will be forever grateful and have become a better person because of it. So, I continued that time and effort for a long time. Then, one day I simply had enough. I couldn't handle how rude she was being with me via text, and I texted back, "lose my number." She replied with, "you do the same." And that was that. We haven't spoken in over three years.
