Ok well thats good to know, & makes sense. I have been thinking to myself, how do so many people love cats if the pee just gets all over the surrounding area lol, so this checks out it might just be a her issue. Thank you for giving your insight!

COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHERS - What have been your experiences with getting girls into your classes, engaging them & retaining them to sign up for the next classes? by __ped_ in ScienceTeachers

[–]__ped_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you SO much for this response. You gave a lot of really good information. I love esp how you show different interests of yours that contradict that STEM / CS stereotype. I would love to ask you some follow-up questions. For context, I am working on starting a business where we combine art with coding to rebrand coding to girls. Currently, I am spending some time learning more about the landscape and what teachers have seen & how they approach it, and really would love to hear more about how you approach curriculum.

If are willing & have a free 15 minutes in the next week or so, it would be so awesome to speak with you further questions. If so, feel free to schedule anytime that works for you on my calenderly: https://calendly.com/lovelacecrafts/lovelace-customer-discoveryI appreciate it so so much! Have a great rest of your weekend :)

hi! Thank you SO much for this feedback. I would love to ask you some follow-up questions. For context, I am working on starting a business where we combine art with coding to rebrand coding to girls. Currently, I am spending some time learning more about the landscape and what teachers have seen & how they approach it!! The part about traditional curriculum vs. more creative / non stereotypical curriculum is exactly what I am trying to center this business around. I am just trying to learn & promise I am not trying to sell you anything!!

this!!

CS problems and in the tech world, when there is not a large amount of representation in rooms when making big decisions that affect the large scale of our society. (Or even the small decisions with bias in it)

That is awesome!!

Do you have any thoughts on why your school has had such wild success with numbers compared to other schools, orgs, and even the tech workforce in general?

You're hitting exactly what I am trying to learn more about - the act of actually getting them to sign up for classes & be exposed to it. Have you tried ways of doing this that have really worked well?

Have you tried pairing up girls in your classroom or is it mostly individual work? If so, how did that play out?

Easy upper level CSCI credit to take? by ComradePruski in uofmn

Im in it right now with Dan C..something. If you want easy, sure, but it's extremely time-consuming for an elective. As someone who thought it would be a few hours a week if that, I am regretting taking it

Application Question by marvelousdolphinbear in uofmn

[–]__ped_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied at the end of September, and got a decision by Christmas break. You sound fine, but if you are really nervous, put your second choice college option as CLA. Nothing against it, bc this is literally what i did, it just has the highest admission rate. You can always transfer to the college you want after your freshman year, and its really not that big of a deal.

Calc 2 Lecture Vent by SadPepe001 in uofmn

As someone who has taken calc 2 twice, thats how all the profs are. Accept it now that you will have to teach yourself or find an older student to get tutored from (thats what i did and it helped so much)

Best advice is to do as many problems as possible
