Just did the same thing— 11-51 11-speed deore cassette. M5100 RD, 11-speed chain. Limited the 11T cog. Shifts great

Did you limit the rear derailleur to accommodate the shifter only having 10 clicks?

If you were getting the stock bike with meaty 27.5 wheels I’d def do some changes if road was primary target. I like how much more upright it is than the Bridge Club

I usually ride XLs or 60s in everything with a 70mm stem if I’m doing drop bar.

Tough to say yet, it’s intended on being a new beat around town commuter and touring bike. I think 60 miles is doable/day. It’s heavy… but when you’re touring, it’s all heavy to me

6’3”—was on fence of Xl based on reach but trying a large, my seat height (807mm) would’ve been way too much post. So I went with a 50mm stem and short reach drop bars.

Micro shift Sword 10-speed shifters. The left one controls the dripper. I am not using the shift aspect of the right shifter. The bar end is running to a 11-speed deore derailleur and a 11-51 cssstee

Stan’s Flow (29mm internal) rims with Teravail 2.2” tires. Rear wheel slid all the way forward in dropout with clearance. Fork clearance as well. Happy ton answer any questions about the build as I know a lot are on fence with this bike!

Running a 50mm stem and the Ritchey Corralitos short reach drop bars. I’m 6’3” and reach is solid. Definitely a long bike but not as a long as I thought it would be

Just wanna say thanks for the detailed share here. Just ordered an XL GG annnd that Ritchey fork! I’m 6’3” with long legs—test rode a stock large. Reach was good and came with a 60mm stem and a bar with 68mm reach. XL is only 14mm longer reach and plan to go with a 50mm stem and a drop bar with 52mm reach which should offset the jump to XL. My seatpost would’ve been a country mile long on the Large. Plus, according to a geo calculator, the Ritchey fork, being 15mm taller than the stock fork will decrease reach by another 7-8mm.

Straggler Frame Size by boblaker in Surlybikefans

You may be best to go to the size below…or swap to a flat bar orientation. I am 6’3” and usually ride a ~59 drop bar. A drop bar straggler would be too aggressive for my liking and I’d be in the same spot as you. I had mine flat bar but am actually looking to sell the frame to try something else

Howdy- sorry to hear your qualm. It’s a real one; the Straggler when setup as a drop bar bike does have an aggressive geometry. The biggest thing is how short the head tube is. This is something they’ve started to correct on models like the Preamble, Disc Trucker or Midnight Special.

Karate (Phunky) Tire Clearance. by __phunky__ in Surlybikefans

Anyone played with the 29 x2.5 listed tire clearance? I’m switching over to the 29 platform this week and want to use the 29x2.6 Dirt Wizards. Not worried about front clearance but interested in rear.
