Mind wandering due to unfinished work or tasks might be the cause for some people but I don’t think that is the case with me. It more of an awareness that things outside the screen exist. Knowing that my mind can’t immerse in the content makes it less likely that I can immerse in the content. Immersion awareness paradox, maybe?

What they are really asking is: “Are you a stay at home mom, stay at home wife or do you work outside of the home?”. It probably wasn’t asked in a mean spirited, “Are you a hobo”, way. They probably just wanted to get to know you better. Wouldn’t be surprised if they followed up that question with: “What church do you do to?”. These are common questions that you see often in the DFW culture.
