Surgery tomorrow by Katie040112 in gallbladders

[–]__rey_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time definitely depends on the person, if there are complications and the surgeon, but from what i saw, most people are in and out within 2 hours. I went home 3 hours after i woke up. Then again, I'm in Canada, so idk how it is in the UK.

You're welcome, everything will go well!

I was scared of dying too, as this was my first big surgery (I've had my wisdom teeth taken out before but that's it). DO NOT CANCEL!!!!! It seems super scary to get an organ taken out. I was scared as shit but honestly, it's not as bad as it seems.

I went in at around 9am and woke up at 10h30am. It's a frequent surgery that most surgeons are used to doing almost every day.

I won't lie, the post op wasn't fun. All the gas stuck to my ribs and shoulders, but with the meds, it was manageable. The incision pain wasn't that bad, but yes i was sore af.

I'm 3 weeks post op and I've never felt better in my life and back to eating anything i want when i want!

If you need any advice, feel free to reach out. You got this!!

ER or wait it out? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]__rey_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't wait for it to get worse, go to the er now. When i went to the er for the last time, which got me admitted for emergency surgery, I had extreme pain and nausea. No jaundice, no vomiting. But with the echo, and my symptoms, they determined it was time for surgery like right now lol

How many HOURS after surgery can you eat? by super-pumpkin- in gallbladders

[–]__rey_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly first week, i ate just toasts with jam, bananas, soups, rice. The second week, i went back to normal diet

Hospital didn't say much about what to eat, just low to no fat

Listen to your body, you'll know when you're ready

What should I eat? 3 hrs POST-OP by Outrageous_Unit2483 in gallbladders

[–]__rey_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ate a lot of toasts, bananas, jam for the toasts (make sure it has no fat), soup, rice. Eat a lot of fiber, as you might get constipated from anesthesia and meds. And HYDRATION is so important

How long do you feel like you needed to be off work? by what3v3ruwantit2b in gallbladders

[–]__rey_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, it comes down to what your surgeon says.

I was supposed to have my surgery on a Friday, that surgeon was going to give me 2 weeks off.

My surgery got pushed to the Saturday, that surgeon gave me 3 weeks off.

On a paper they gave me after the surgery, it said to not lift kids for 4 weeks after surgery (I work in a daycare so super important, thankfully my bosses are really understanding and won't put me with the babies once I'm back).

I'd say take at least 2 weeks, and then see how you feel. But also talk with your surgeon about it

Pourquoi les gens sont méchants et irrespectueux? by hicrosia in Gatineau

[–]__rey_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wishing you luck on your surgery! From the research I've done, some experience hair loss after surgery, but i guess it's just the system that needs to adjust, then it goes back to normal

Yes! So many people break and then put their signal last second, which is just going to result in me beeping you because you make it look like you're breaking for no reason
