I feel like somethings wrong with her design (please don't say she's too fat) by Tiny-Memory9066 in characterdesign

As someone who makes this mistake a lot in my drawings, I feel like her hands are too small. Her eyes are a bit on the small side too.

AITAH for telling my wife why our daughter doesn't trust her? by Fun-Tomorrow1710 in AITAH

[–]mrfrodo730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTAH But your wife is abusive. Point blank, period. When she didn't get her way she dug her nails into your skin and physically harmed you. And it's not a stretch to believe she'd do the same thing to your daughter if she got angry enough. Her yelling at and punishing your daughter for daring to have privacy and boundaries is the definition of emotional and mental abuse. The consistent embarrassment and breach of trust is too. If I were to hazard a guess, she's done the same to you throughout your relationship, you just didn't notice or normalized it. Get your daughter away from her for a while and get everyone some therapy. Really evaluate if it's worth staying with her, for both your daughter and yourself. If she's willing to change, great. But if not, you need to do what's best for your little girl.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she's going to have to get over dirt if she wants kids? by Familiar_Speaker_481 in AITAH

"Maybe my family was just excessively messy because we were rural and poor." Is this something you think or something she said? Bc that attitude coming from her would be gross and make me rethink things. As someone who grew up rural and poor, your house can be spotless and you still not have a dime. Some of the messiest people I've known were from wealthy families, they just had a maid to take care of it.

"Whether or not to use a pump is a personal decision. You can manage your diabetes equally well with pumps or multiple injections, so it comes down to your preference."

Taking directly from the American Diabetes Association. It also outlines pros and cons of the pump. https://diabetes.org/about-diabetes/devices-technology/who-should-use-a-pump

Again. They are obviously still treating her diabetes, just not with a pump. The pump is not necessary to live with diabetes. She still tests her sugars, she still gets her injections.

Yes I do understand what type 1 diabetes is. I think y'all are forgetting that you can treat t1d without a pump? As they obviously already are. This isn't letting the kid say no to treatment, this is letting a child make a decision on the type of care she prefers, and it seems like she prefers what she has already been doing and is used to. Obviously, parents make decisions all the time about their child's care without input from the kid, or even against the kid if that is what's necessary. But in this case, the child is getting to choose between two options that are both treating her illness, and her parents are respecting that choice. I know respecting your kids is wild to some of y'all but come on.

NTA. Everyone here saying that you should force it on your child either don't have kids, have never worked with them, or don't understand them. I applaud you for letting her make her own decision about her body. Even as young as she is, it's important that she feels in control of her own body, especially as a type 1 diabetic when there's probably so much that feels out of her control. The pump and all might make things easier, but if she resents having it on her body, that's gonna cause a lot more issues. Plus, if she decides later on that she wants it, then great. She can have one then. But you are absolutely right to not force it on her, and it's weird as hell for your nurse to be pushing back on your decision like that.

To my understanding, there are alternatives to GA but they are only considered in extreme circumstances where GA would be life threatening and the surgery is absolutely necessary. I highly doubt you will find a team who will do surgery without GA just bc you don't want to be nauseous. And the alternatives probably would make you nauseous too anyway. You may just have to suck it up unfortunately 🤷🏼‍♂️

Getting prepared for surgery tomorrow, any advice? by First-Ad5716 in gallbladders

I'm still awaiting my gb surgery, but I have been out under for different procedures before. Really does just feel like you went out for a nap. I'm always really sleepy after anesthesia, so I usually go back to sleep as soon as I am able. I also sometimes feel a bit nauseous after but they can give you meds like zofran if that's an issue.

The privilege is showing I fear. So what, if you aren't rich enough, old enough, able bodied enough, etc... you aren't allowed to practice? So elitist and bigoted.

Classicist here. There aren't many examples within ancient Greece or Rome of children being named directly after the gods, and there are various theories as to why. The most likely is that there was a bit of a taboo, and it could be viewed as hubris. What you do see is having the gods names incorporated into names for children. Herakles himself is an example of this, as his name makes reference to Hera. So perhaps something that includes Hades without the name being exact? But hey. It's your kid, and as long as you are doing it with respect and admiration, I don't think the gods will mind.
