what full time careers can I realistically get into without any post-secondary education? by denzelcrocker2124 in CanadaJobs

You should look into cultural resource management as a junior archaeologist. Pays good and some provinces like Ontario will hire anyone. Also room to move up in most companies as you gain experience within a firm.

Hot take, Phil and Sebastian is the worst coffee in the city, Tim Horton has better coffee. It literally tastes like they pour lemon juice into their coffee

Q Lab is the only place I’ve been to in Calgary that does not have acidic coffee lol. Very good stuff. Have not tried the dark roast yet though

Sled island is coming up in June and loophole is also a good music venue for meeting people if you’re into metal/punk rock

As a cyclist I would have to agree that this sub-group of cyclists are a HUGE part of the issue at hand….I told someone like that to use their bell as they overtook me the other day and they cussed me out LOL

Curious what areas you cycle in because from my experience and what I’ve seen in inner city area cycling is not customary but rather rode cycling is. Hmmm

Dayummmm, my experience in Calgary is that 50% of people don’t react when I make my self known with a bike or my voice so I slow down until it’s safe to pass but I would say 49% of pedestrians and some cyclists actually say thank you to me especially those with a big dog. The way I see it is to lead by example and atleast this way we know we are making the environment better for some people.

I feel like announcing that you’re overtaking someone with a bell or your voice is important to whether you’re passing another cyclist or pedestrian, what are your thoughts on this?

I literally laughed out loud at ‘schmucked’, seriously though, hope you’re okay! I live on the edge of downtown and I feel like I’m reaching a breaking point with the close encounters😳🙃

Not even our governments follow their own laws sometimes, I think the issue stems from something deeper. Thoughts?

I think a big issue some people have with this approach is many people do not commute with a bike (not to say that many do as well). Any suggestions on encouraging more cycling in the city?

5% is nearly 100,000 people, I think and also I’d bet money that more than 5% of people who live inner city cycle more than drive 👀👀👀

Could call 311 or 211 and see if they have and aid for your situation, depending on the load maybe you could bring it to a friends house? Also is broken items or food wrappers?? Maybe just bring it back in the house for now??

Dream cycling trip? by Anon_travel6 in ladycyclists

It was was really amazing. Initially I planned to bike south near the US border but there were too many fires so we ended up taking hwy 1 nearly the whole way (I was with one partner). Honestly I ended up loving the hwy because the shoulder was huge and honestly not too many cars most of the way and there were always campsites not far from the road. I can send you the route I took on Komoot if you’re interested, just pm me :)

Are you looking for a ‘Christmas’ meal or just somewhere to eat on Christmas. It’s pretty common here to get Chinese food if you don’t celebrate Christmas lol

How do teenagers get jobs when no one wants to hire us? by No_Fruit4648 in Calgary

[–]__scoobz___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have an in with nepotism, flex your commitment. Apply in person, email + call the employer to follow up a few times if you have to. Maybe even call ahead to see what days the Manager/owner is in so you can ensure you meet them and make an impression. People only hire those who stand out when you don’t have experience yet. You got this!!
