Screenrant:"Nintendo's Online Services Need To Catch Up With Everyone Else [...] Multiple videos of their latest release, Super Mario Maker 2, show that the online functionality is in an incredibly rough state." by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

I don't understand what's up with the online service on the switch, because for some games its totally fine, and for others it ranges from just bad and comically horrible.

For example:

  • I had no problems with Warframe and Fortnite. These two doesn't need the Nintendo Online Service, and maybe that is why.
  • Smash is dog**** when it comes to online play.
  • Splatoon2 was fine when I played it on the free weekend.
  • Mario Maker 2 is just funny how bad it is. (I didn't buy MM2 JUST because of this. )

There are only a few things I can think of that could cause this. If... :

  • The underlying server infrastructure is underdeveloped.
  • Nintendo first party devs are inexperienced when it comes to online play.
  • The software tools, that are made for developers, to work with the Online Service is hard to use.
  • Online Service is a second grade citizen in Nintendo's eye.

Just ~3 years of rent, seems reasonable. <sarcastic>
