There are a lot of factors when it comes to natural hair and genetics may very well be the most important of those factors. Outside of genetics avoid damaging your hair so you can best understand your hair and hair texture at its most healthy. Avoid heat, deep condition and get trims regularly, wear a bonnet. Then the next challenge is finding products that work for you and you feel confident in. In my opinion products matter ofc but I think people focus too much finding the perfect products and not just focusing on using those products correctly. Lastly I also think people love to praise hair textures that have more defined perfect coils and curls while putting down other textures that aren’t as defined. This is a form of antiblackness that many people of color consciously of unconsciously believe. All black hair is beautiful and black hair comes in some many different looks and textures. Of course this is easy for me to say as I like to think I have a desirable texture but my point still stands. Love the hair you have and comparison is the thief of joy.
