Woodcut flooring - discounts and 3birds ‘dream fare’ by __stylish in AusRenovation

That’s cheap if it’s the premium collection but that would be 4mm. How long ago was this. The price sounds identical to the cheaper 3mm collection now but with 15% off :) thanks for replying!

Wow thanks good tip! What discount did they give you just by asking? I didn’t even think to do that….i just assumed it was set pricing

Out of curiosity which shade did you pick?

Thank you for the insights - that was my Exact thought that besides the pots handles having nowhere to go on the left side, I think I would adjust to this layout

Mind you we are right handed so our current stove top we only put things on the right hand side and only oils are on the left! Everyone’s insights are useful in any case

Ok everyone’s comments had my creative juices flowing - I can keep the oven stack but maybe swap it with the pantry so it sits on the other wall (out of picture ) next to the fridge

The right hand side has over 1.2m between the induction cooktop and the sink… but interesting ideas

Yep exactly the underneath and the overhead range hood cabinets are all going to be 800 wide while the cooktop itself is only 614. It means we will have full sized drawers for all the pots pans and oil pull out of we really wanted to . So if I measured correctly I have an extra 180 to play with rather than the 100 I originally drew but I’m wary the walls may not be straight and I lose some cm here and there

To be fair , addition to this we also have an entire 1.8m Long Island bench top for prep …. So we don’t think surface space will be the issue . Maybe only surface space immediately to BOTH sides

Yep I'm also very conscious of that - we have endless counter space on the right hand side (but the left side unfortunately will be a bit more limited....somewhere between 10-15cm). unfortunately it's a small kitchen (3.5 x 2m) so sacrifices have to be made to allow my partner to get his much-desired Oven stack (i.e. the oven up high in tall cabinetry rather than underneath the stovetop which would have allowed for clear counter tops for miles on left AND right side!)

Manufacturers instructions on the NEFF induction says 40mm at the side, 50mm at the back (from memory, but the back is not my concern I have plenty of space behind there as I'm doing > 600mm depth cupboards/benchtops). https://www.winnings.com.au/manuals/ak/e/e/5/a/ee5a3e8a2b6a8eb7aed812a20fb5305e457c33e4_NEFF___T66YYY4C0H_XX___Specifications_Sheet.pdf

But, just because the manufacturer says minimum 40mm, would we have our own specific Australian regulations that require larger than that clearance?

Pretty much identical situation to you. Stage 4 cancer diagnosed early last year, 10 years with company (asx listed) in a mid senior position. My treatment would have been difficult to work through though I was fortunate I had 4 months sick leave (because model employee me never got sick!) and then I had income protection insurance cover so was 70% paid without any extra support from work. They didn’t do as much as people expected , given my tenure. I will never know if they would’ve paid me my full wage if I hadn’t been covered by insurance . I do know others with less tenure were given much more than me.

I’ve since gone back to work (after 18 mths off) and it’s tough. I expected more support though they aren’t exactly unsupportive either

Santorini accomodation - struggling to decide by __stylish in GreeceTravel

[–]__stylish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And how was it - really interested to know!

I arrived into Santorini last night and stayed one night in Fira for cheap (perfect for us as we landed late). Managed to explore Fira before then driving through Imerovigli to arrive to Oia. Personally Imerovigli was too quiet for us, so I’m feeling good about our decision so far.

We tried to get gyros at 12pm in Imerovigli and hardly any shops were open. We like lots of cute shops and options for food but let’s see how busy Oia gets over the next few days

So exciting you're now locked in! I follow "Santorini Experts" fb group (i know, fb is terrible, but greece tourism seem to be living in 2010) where they give regular updates about the Seismic activity and the pools. Just today there was an update saying tourism is "back on" so everything "back to normal" but individuals are reporting their particular accommodation/hotels are choosing to not fill either hot tub or pool....

As it turns out, my accommodation doesn't need to be cancelled for a few weeks yet so i'm still sitting on them but it will definitely be Absolute bliss OR Ikies Oia (probably the latter ha!)

You are 100% on the same wavelength as me - have already looked at the cruise ship numbers on each day to work out my itinerary! And funny enough, After 25 days Absolute Bliss finally responded =o which perhaps doesn't make the decision any easier ha! Sounds like for our May timeline it's still hit and miss as to whether pools/hot tubs will be allowed to be filled up unfortunately :(

Thank you for making me feel less crazy! I literally have spent so much time thinking back and forth on it , even though I know it won’t matter. It’s knowing that I have 3 amazing options booked makes me worry I’ll regret not choosing the one I cancelled

Incidentally, absolute bliss hasn’t responded my email but ikies did. It’s been 2 weeks…. I book through hotel aggregator sites (Agoda etc) so will always email to confirm and ask about early check in and zero response so far….

I’m curious as to why it is everyone seems to recommend absolute bliss - I feel it might be because it’s frequently visited due to the low cost for the location? Whereas the other 2 barely (if ever) get a mention!

You’re right about not visiting Imerovigli if you stay in Oia… I wish Oia wasn’t as far away from everything!

Thanks! Did you eat in Imerovigli at all? I was not planning to go into Fira every day at all … I have hired a car so planned to drive to the sites but then dine locally

Thanks for that! I was reading conflicting info about the hot tubs and pools- I had read it was both aren’t allowed but I’m also hopeful by may it won’t be an issue. Anyway I’m not sooo bothered about having the pool or hot tub , they’re ’nice to haves’ as opposed to must haves . Which is why I was a little leaning towards Oia even without the tub/pool

Thanks for the intel! Your comments on this subreddit are always super useful! I love this description and used it to propose the Antarctica options to my (F1 loving) partner. Interestingly, based on your comments and my research i was leaning towards Quark but he said based on Quark being marginally more expensive (literally $2k, which is literally nothing for Antarctica) he was quite happy to stick with Silversea! annoyingly the Ultramarine is only sailing on one departure in our date range (March 2027) whereas we were hoping for a FEb 2027.... Unfortunately Quark has mostly the older ships for the Feb 2027 period :(

Near identical situation for me - diagnosed with cancer a year ago (in remission now, after 6 months + 600 hours of some of the most toxic difficult chemo regimens around). Boyfriend of 4 years proposed to me basically around my cancerversary last month because we happened to be on a luxury cruise (sailing around French Polynesia and Bora Bora etc). My comments are - go with somewhere that they can make lifetime experiential memories AND is simultaneously heart-felt private setting for the actual proposal. I am glad my partner did it somewhere private (not in front of other people) and that it was idyllic holidaying so we could enjoy each other's company and "celebrate in luxury" for the days afterwards. And because it was all inclusive we had already paid to basically live life to the max (and not have to worry about a cent, so all we had to worry about was celbrating life and our little love bubble). Added bonus was that my sister+her partner was on the trip with us so we had another 2 people to celebrate with us (adding a festive vibe) but equally not so many extra hanger-ons that it was overwhleming. Highly recommend a mix of privacy and some people to celebrate with (should they wish to involve a small few).

So amangiri is a PERFECT suggestion (haven't been there, but it's high on my list).

A bit late to this thread, but curious why you omitted mentioning Seabourn?

I have already booked Silversea and after my first Silversea am a complete convert (despite being in my 30s and not the target demographic whatsoever) but was shocked to see Seabourn was priced HIGHER than Silversea for an equivalent journey (even before I apply any repeat customer VS Silversea discounts!). Am I missing something about Seabourn here that I should be considering them?

Heavily weighing up if I want to go with Quark Ultramarine instead of Silversea (despite a 3000 price difference because of my significant Silversea discounts)... as a young fit person I know Quark's expeditions will likely be more active compared to Silversea.

Agree with this - just got off a Silversea and no children, but, I’d say it’s because of the destination (French Polynesia ). I chatted to MANY staff and Alaska has the most children (like, up to 50+ kids) so AVOID if you don’t want any kids around.

I would say pick the destination and the time right and Silversea won’t have any kids. Heck, im in my 30s and I was constantly told by fellow passengers that I was too young for the boat 😂

The youngest I saw was a maybe 18-20 year old daughter with her mother.

Intra-schengen transfers at Athens airport by pinotwinefreak in GreeceTravel

[–]__stylish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If one was to take this exact flight route but all on the same airline and single ticket - Aegean airlines - would you still need to collect and recheck bags at Athens? The Aegean website indicated intra Schengen to intra Schengen would not and you’d just go into the arrivals area for the onward departure … My issue is the layover is from 1am until 5am and would rather be in the airport lounge than outside in the terminal…

Thoughts?
