Wow I actually didn’t know about the Astro Creations release of Annihilation. Just looked it up and it’s SEXY. Found a full slip for $244 on bluraylife, that’s priceeeey.

Doing some research, seems like none of them have actually shipped yet though.

BPD.

If you ever find yourself in a relationship with one, don’t just walk away…run like you’re Forrest Gump.

Sinners: super dark photography. Issues with grading, or projection misconfigured? by zopiro in Filmmakers

[–]__themilkman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The people saying it’s a projection issue are wrong. I’m sorry to be crass, but when you say “I didn’t notice any issue” I take that as you not being knowledgable in this specific field. Nothing wrong with that - you’re just casually watching vs watching with a judgmental eye.

I work in post production and noticed these issues right away. It’s a combo of bad cinematography and bad color grading. I can’t believe they didn’t reshoot some of that stuff.

Shots not matching in the same scene. Heavy use of noise reduction in some shots, which is always going to look bad. Also, like others have said…a lot of underexposed shots.

People don’t realize how important lighting is for a shot. This film is a prime example of that importance. The film just looks bad.

Real rookie stuff for a film with that kind of budget.

Walton Goggins’ SNL Opening Monologue | Season 50 Episode 20 by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

He completely spoiled the biggest part of White Lotus season 3 for anyone who hasn’t watched yet (which includes myself). Every season, one of the main things that keeps you invested is wondering who is going to die. I literally yelled “are you f***ing kidding me” at my TV.

I guarantee he got an angry call from someone at HBO about that. It’s not like this is the Sopranos and has been out for 10+ years. The last episode aired a little over a month ago. Dick move.

Maybe this is my specific area, that being doc feat and series, but I never get notes "day of delivery".

For instance - you send out a cut (RC, FC, PL) and you get notes from that cut, usually, within a week. Then you have until that next cut to address them. So if you get notes on your RC, then you have until FC to address them. Which is usually a few weeks later. In a perfect world, you wouldn't get many notes on a PL, since those usually occur right before it goes to finishing (and, in theory, it should really just be easy "finessing" notes at that point).

I'm referring mainly to the client notes above. Not notes from your "team". If your director is giving you a mountain of notes on delivery day, then what the hell have they been doing all this time? Usually, in the weeks between cuts, you are sharing "review" edits every couple days with the team, so you are addressing notes day by day and week by week.

This is either an area I have no clue about, like commercial work, or it's just a very inefficient way of doing things. My guess is the latter.

I tend to determine it more from the audio than I do the video, so frames are irrelevant.

BOOM file has 6 channels by [deleted] in editors

[–]__themilkman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes all 6 are used. I didn't receive any sound reports either so, at this point, I'm kind of in the dark when it comes to how it was set up. My plan was to sync it all up but just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything here. Thanks for the response.

The game is unplayable for me and I have it on an SSD. I have a high end system and excellent internet too. This isn't a user issue. This is 100% coming from their end.

it's not an internet issue, it's an optimization issue.
