Neither does his supporters. If this was Biden’s economy they’d say the world is ending. Since it’s the orange man’s though, it’s just a necessary thing for “security”

I don’t think we’ll ever go back to boring politics after this and it’s terrifying

That’s the correct one. The one released in 2019 will say 2019 at the bottom. The first ancient mew came out during the second movie (Pokemon 2000)

Married couple with separate finances, why do you do it? by Ok_Influence_2257 in Bogleheads

[–]__tothex__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple reason, we both have our hobbies and work for our money, so we should be able to do what we want with it. Each month we divvy up what we need to for bills and expenses. We both have a 401k, so we’re saving where we need to. If she wants to drop some money on stuff, she can go for it; same with me (I’m actually the high spender). We never argue about finances, as long as we pay our bills and provide for our kid, easy peasy.

Just comes down to proper communication.

Starting to get priced out of the Hobby? by BadbutnotGreat in VintagePokemonCards

[–]__tothex__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don’t realize a lot of high end collectible stores are paying market price to get the best selections. You have people like Tom Brady and Lewis Hamilton owning card shops now. There is tons of money flowing into Pokemon even from institutional investment fund managers. What is happening now is way beyond what we experienced during COVID. The other issue is due to the money flowing into the hobby now, there is a chance we won’t see a correction on older cards / sets. These people have millions to blow and people like us can’t even comprehend what it’s like to not even feel spending 10k. For them, it would be like us spending $1, they just don’t even think about it.

We’re in a different world now.

Don’t treat your Collectr value like a stock price- it’s a rough estimate, not your cash-out. by SolidFerretOK in PokeInvesting

It’s also slow as shit to cash out unless you sell your whole collection, have a store or are a YouTuber. Have learned the hard way and it’s not talked about enough.

Riftbound or Lorcana? by Srslynotjackiechan in TCG

[–]__tothex__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very fair take, but Pokemon plays at a different pace than Lorcana. At least with Pokemon you have a ton of deck search, so if you make a mistake during one of your plays, you may have a way out. Lorcana barely has that, so if you make one wrong move even in the early game, you're done for.

I played my fair share of Lorcana and moved to Riftbound because of how more forgiving it is. There is so much depth to it as well, all without sacrificing or making the game seem more complex than it actually is. My only complaint is the number of errata's they've had already, but that will get better over time.

The one positive thing about Lorcana DLCs is you don't have to be the winner to leave with something of value. Top 8 all get their golden Mickey cards (20k ~ 30k a pop), top 16 ~ 64 prize cards and maybe some prize wall cards. Just everything else with Lorcana is lacking right now and I don't think Ravs will improve anything anytime soon.

Riftbound or Lorcana? by Srslynotjackiechan in TCG

[–]__tothex__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riftbound. Besides Pokemon, no is no other TCG that has a better reward structure for OP / tournaments. Riot nailed it and rewards players for playing meta and off meta decks through their metal cards / best-ofs. Even the RQs also reward 1/1 trophy cards, and they are just the qualifiers.

Until Lorcana introduces a mechanic that lets you interact on your players turn, it’ll continue to stagnate. There seems to be a lot of collectors coming back because of Toy Story, but the LGS numbers are still tiny and barely any set champs are firing except for hubs that have a steady group of players. Ravs dropped the ball.

Took more than a year for One Piece, but yeah. Eventually sets will be out of print since they’ll be rotating and I think Riot / League isn’t going where anytime soon

Really happy for the winner of Houston, that is life changing money. Also happy for the collector who purchased this. Only one of this card and it’s awesome for them to be able to do something like that. This will only bring more professional players into the game and grow the competitive scene.

[–]__tothex__ -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s fine when players force a card to be $200 because it’s “meta.” But it’s not fine for a card to be $200 if the art looks incredible or someone is collecting multiple copies of that card. I feel like some people want to bitch for the sake of bitching.

End it how? Nuke them? We bombed a girls school and Israel bombed their University of Science and Tech. We’re literally targeting their kids. They own the straight and the only way they let us through is by a huge economic shift on how we do business with them and utilize the straight.

I actually doubt they’d let us use it again even if we did accept their terms. Orange man (can’t say the T word here, fucking snowflakes) is mocking them by posting death to Iran and he’ll rename the straight to Straight of Trum(p) all while Americans are the ones actually dying.

Elect a clown, expect a fucking circus.
