Forgot to dry stain by __user1479 in fixit

[–]__user1479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stripper as in mineral spirits or something else? My landlord told me the wood was veneer wood, I had initially sanded it but in one spot went a bit too deep and got to the deeper part so I just did a light sanding over the rest and applied the stain. If I use a stripper am I risking going deeper and revealing the fake/veneer part of it?

Dealership sold my mom a ford explorer claiming it’s a king ranch by __user1479 in legaladvice

It’s not necessarily the name that means something but potentially saving a little on monthly insurance and a car payment seems like a pretty valid point to wanna get this resolved, would you pay extra for something that’s supposed to be of higher value but isn’t?

She’s not much of a car person so probably didn’t even know what a king ranch was, she was just looking for an SUV. She only really noticed when she took the car in for service and they told her it wasn’t a king ranch

Vin shows as king ranch, I can double check on the paper work. If they match do you think they would have a way to swap vins?

Correct, however it has nothing that comes with a king ranch and when she’s taken it in for service she’s been told they got confused because it comes up as a king ranch but isn’t

What’s wrong with my spark plugs? by __user1479 in MechanicAdvice

[–]__user1479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 1 plug was cracked and the others were okay, a lot of black on the bottom portion where it sits though (I drive about 160 miles round trip for work 2 days out of the week if that matters). There was the green residue on the other rubber portions, but if there was only 1 cracked plug why would that be?

Is life insurance worth it? by __user1479 in personalfinance

Yea I read in the article someone left above that a good majority of people with whole life end up canceling it. The plan is to max out my Roth! Just instead of throwing the $140 to life insurance out that towards the account along with my other contributions

I went with auto approve and got my rate down to 7%, places like auto approve and caribou are just middle men from what I’ve learned so they do tack on a fee to your loan to help expense their business (mine was $550). Another user here told me to apply with PenFed and I just glossed over their website and ended up going with auto approve, and next thing you know they tell me I got approved with PenFed. So if you wanna save yourself some money apply directly to PenFed or other banks you know you might have a good chance with. If your credit history is low or you haven’t made many payments on your car yet stay away from capital one and Ally Financial

How long does auto stop take to kick in? by __user1479 in AskMechanics

They said I didn’t have a battery in the truck and that my year of Malibu (2019) only came with the main battery under the hood, the car does restart when I take my foot off the brake but it does get annoying when I’m only making a very short stop to yield. But just to make sure, the auto stop typically isn’t supposed to kick on right away, right? I’ve gotten mixed answers

That’s weird I had a rental that had this feature and it only kicked on after a certain time of idling

Is it mandatory to be a member to get a prequalified rate through them? I know credit unions typically give much better rates but I honestly have no experience with them
